Aus Kunststoff bestehender Skistockteller
EMI1.1

Ski pole plate made of plastic
EMI1.1
Rubber ski pole plates are used a lot. They consist of a ring stiffened with a metal insert, which consists of one piece with the spokes and these spokes form one piece with the hub. It has also already been proposed to manufacture ski pole plates from glass fiber plastic and to design the plate ring with a downwardly open channel profile. A glass fiber plastic is known to have great strength, but its processing is not easy and there are certain limits to the shape when using this plastic.
It has been found that plates made of thermoplastic material are obtained in a simple manner in terms of manufacturing by injection molding, and without a metal insert, but nevertheless with fully satisfactory strength, if the downwardly open ring profile of the plate ring is designed according to the invention so that the essential U-shape having a channel profile having a central rib dividing the profile and wherein one leg of the channel profile protrudes over the other, possibly also over the central rib.
This profile is sufficiently stiff, despite the use of conventional thermoplastics, sufficiently strong and provides the plate with lateral support and creates greater resistance against sinking into the snow than plates whose ring has the usual toroidal shape or the shape of a flat, downwardly open groove.
The schematic drawing shows in FIGS. 1 and 2 an exemplary embodiment for a plate according to the invention in cross section and in a plan view of the underside and in FIGS. 3 and 4 sections along line III-III and IV-IV of FIG. 2.
The plate ring consists of the spokes 2 and the hub 3. one piece. Ring and spokes have a U-profile. The ring has, for the purpose of stiffening, a central rib 4 and one of the U-legs, here the outer one, is designed with a greater height than the other and than the central rib.
The ribs 2 also have a U-profile and all Uw-profiles open downwards, whereby the following is achieved:
If the plate sits down on the snow, the outermost leg of the ring 1 delimits a snow area which can no longer escape outwards when the plate sinks further into the snow; Plates of the present type therefore offer greater resistance to sinking in than plates which have the usual toroidal rings or only have a flat inner shape, with the same diameter.
Harder polyvinyl chloride is suitable as the material for the ring, but numerous other cheaper plastics are also suitable for the present purpose.
