EMI1.1
<tb>
<tb> Gold <SEP> 58 <SEP> bis <SEP> 60 <SEP> %
<tb> Silber <SEP> 8 <SEP> bis <SEP> 10 <SEP> %
<tb> Platin <SEP> 2, <SEP> 5 <SEP> bis <SEP> 4 <SEP> %

<tb> Nickel <SEP> 0, <SEP> 5 <SEP> bis <SEP> 1 <SEP> %
<tb> Kupfer <SEP> 23 <SEP> bis <SEP> 30 <SEP> %
<tb>
EMI1.2
<tb>

<tb> Kobalt <SEP> 1- <SEP> 3 <SEP> % <SEP>
<tb> Kupfer <SEP> 27-30 <SEP> % <SEP>
<tb>

Dank ihrer besonderen Zusammensetzung besitzt die erfindungsgemässe Legierung nachstehende Eigenschaften : a) Sie hat eine gegenüber äusseren chemischen Einflüssen beständige Goldfarbe ; b) Sie hat eine Elastizität entsprechend derjenigen der bekannten für zahnärztliche Zwecke verwendeten Nickel-Chrom-Kobalt Legierungen ; c) Sie weist eine gute Beständigkeit gegen die im Munde wirksamen chemischen Stoffe auf ; d) Ihr Gestehungspreis ist viel niedriger als derjenige der bis jetzt verwendeten ZahnGoldlegierungen ; e) Ihr Schmelzintervall liegt zwischen 850 und 900 C, so dass sie ohne komplizierte Apparaturen gegossen werden kann ;

Alloy for dentures
The invention relates to an alloy for dental prostheses and is characterized by the following composition in percent by weight:
EMI1.1
<tb>
<tb> Gold <SEP> 58 <SEP> to <SEP> 60 <SEP>%
<tb> Silver <SEP> 8 <SEP> to <SEP> 10 <SEP>%
<tb> Platinum <SEP> 2, <SEP> 5 <SEP> to <SEP> 4 <SEP>%
<tb> Indium <SEP> 2 <SEP> to <SEP> 3, <SEP> 5 <SEP>% <SEP>
<tb> Cobalt <SEP> 0, <SEP> 5 <SEP> to <SEP> 1 <SEP>%
<tb> Nickel <SEP> 0, <SEP> 5 <SEP> to <SEP> 1 <SEP>%
<tb> copper <SEP> 23 <SEP> to <SEP> 30 <SEP>%
<tb>
An alloy of this type is already known, which has a similar composition in percent by weight:
EMI1.2
<tb>
<tb> Gold <SEP> 57-62 <SEP>% <SEP>
<tb> one <SEP> or <SEP> several
<tb> precious metals <SEP> like <SEP> silver,
<tb> Palladium <SEP> or <SEP> Platinum,
<tb> total <SEP> 4- <SEP> 6 <SEP>% <SEP>
<tb> Indium <SEP> 5- <SEP> 7 <SEP>% <SEP>
<tb> Cobalt <SEP> 1- <SEP> 3 <SEP>% <SEP>
<tb> copper <SEP> 27-30 <SEP>% <SEP>
<tb>
However, this alloy is hot-brittle and cracks, especially in the course of machining after heat treatment and sudden cooling in water.
It has now been found that adding nickel at the same time as reducing the indium content to 2-3.5% eliminates this disadvantage and at the same time enables a favorable heat treatment.
A further improvement in the resistance of the alloy in the mouth was achieved by increasing the content of silver and gold in the alloy. Finally, the cobalt content of the alloy was reduced somewhat, so that the

is.
A special embodiment of the alloy according to the invention has the composition in percent by weight:
EMI1.4
<tb>
<tb> Gold <SEP> 60%
<tb> silver <SEP> 10 <SEP>%
<tb> Platinum <SEP> 3 <SEP>% <SEP>
<tb>
EMI1.5
<tb>
<tb> Indium <SEP> 2 <SEP>%
<tb> Cobalt <SEP> 1 <SEP>%
<tb> Nickel <SEP> 1 <SEP>%
<tb> copper <SEP> 23 <SEP>%

To produce the alloy according to the invention you can, for.
B. mix all alloy components in a high-frequency furnace under vacuum or in the presence of an inert gas such as argon or nitrogen and melt the whole thing.
Thanks to its special composition, the alloy according to the invention has the following properties: a) It has a gold color that is resistant to external chemical influences; b) It has an elasticity corresponding to that of the known nickel-chromium-cobalt alloys used for dental purposes; c) It shows good resistance to the chemical substances active in the mouth; d) Their cost price is much lower than that of the dental gold alloys used up to now; e) Its melting range is between 850 and 900 C, so that it can be cast without complicated apparatus;
f) It has a great hardness of approximately 300 Vickers. However, if it is heated to a temperature of about 5500 C and then quickly dipped in cold water, it becomes pliable and stretchable and can be worked on at will. If the alloy is subsequently subjected to a heat treatment (tempering) between 250 and 3000 C, it regains its original hardness of approximately 300 Vickers.
EMI1.6
Alloy-made prostheses retain a practically constant volume when the temperature changes, d. H. stay true to size; h) Your specific weight is lower than that of the previous ones in this category.

One can generally assume the role of the individual components of the alloys according to the invention as follows:
Gold, copper and silver together give the alloy its special color. Platinum and nickel give it strong toughness. Indium helps to make the alloy thin. And finally, the addition of cobalt allows the production of homogeneous, dendrite-free and fine-grained casts that are ideal for dental purposes.
