Process for making conical or stepped tips from Ambroid u. like
According to the present method, tips, namely those of conical or stepped shape almost, namely with the exception of undercut surfaces, notches and the like. Like. Pressed in a one-piece mold in the shape in which they are used.
As a result, the press delivers an intermediate product between the rods that have been made from ambroid to date and the tips made from them or from a different mass in two-part press molds.
In order to further reduce the waste produced by the individual pressing of such tips through the sprue, the so-called plate plate, two or more such tips are pressed in one strand.
To carry out this process, compression molds are used which have a height equal to the length of the tips to be produced and the cavities for one, two or more of these tips. Two or more such press molds can then be connected to one another in such a way that the hollow crimps lie essentially in one direction, so that the ambroid, the amber composition or another suitable mass can be pressed in one strand through slim shapes.
The accompanying drawing shows a die corresponding to the latter method for producing tips, u. Zw. Fig. 1 is a plan view of the partly uncovered, partly with. of the plate covered surface of the mold and FIG. 2 is a longitudinal section through the

wise cylindrical shape, each of which has a number of conical cavities 4 for receiving the pressed Ambroids u. Like. Has a height equal to the length of the tips to be produced. These cavities have a shape such that the pellets produced have the appearance shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, that is, apart from the production of the bite and the bore (see the shape indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 4) have the form of use .
The circular base area gradually merges into the upper elliptical base area in such a way that the diameter of the circular base area becomes the major axis of all cross-sectional ellipses.
The molds 1, 2, 3 ... are lined up in such a way (ideally by means of registration marks 9) that the cavities are essentially in one direction and are formed by a thin plate, suitably made of steel, placed between each two molds. 5 separated from one another and sealed by the sealing rings 6. The purpose of the plates 5 is to connect the cavities located in one direction in such a way that the pressing of the mass through all shapes is not disturbed and the latter can nevertheless easily be separated from one another after the mass has been pressed in.
For this purpose, the plates have one or more small holes 7 of any shape, which the pressing through of the Ambroid u. Like. Still allow, but only leave one or more small connecting bodies between each two pellets, which can be separated with ease.
If the intermediate plates 5 are omitted, two or more compression molds can only be combined to the extent that the individual molds are not hindered from being removed, but even this is not bound to any limits if the strand is cut into individual parts.

As can be seen from Fig. 2 below, the plate 5 can be replaced by individual plates 8, which are advantageously sunk at one or the other mouth of the cavity. It should be mentioned that the cross-section of the tips produced can be any, such as circular, elliptical, angular and the like. like. can be. The so-called saddle tips are mentioned as an example of the offset tips.
