   Verfahren zur Herstellung von Methylenzitronensäure. 



   In dem D. R. P. Nr. 129255 ist ein Verfahren zur Darstellung von Methylenzitronensiture beschrieben, welches darin besteht, dass man Zitronensäure auf Paraformaldehyd bei höheren   Temperaturen einwirken lässt. Nach   den von uns angestellten Versuchen verläuft dieses Verfahren jedoch nicht quantitativ, vielmehr erhält man danach nur eine Ausbeute von höchstens   50%. In   der genannten Patentschrift wird weiter noch erwähnt, dass man auch in der Weise verfahren könne, dass man Formaldehydlösung in Gegenwart von Salzsäure auf Zitronensäure einwirken lässt, dabei soll das Ergebnis, wie ausdrücklich erwähnt   wird, #weniger vorteilhaft" sei, als   bei der Anwendung von Paraformaldebyd.

   Wir haben diese Angabe   nachgeprüft   und gefunden, dass das Ergebnis dabei in der Tat noch viel weniger vorteilhaft ist. Wir erhielten nämlich nur   eine Ausbeute   von ungefähr 10%. Es wurde nun gefunden, dass   man   das genannte therapeutisch sehr wertvoll Produkt in ganz

Beispiel :
2 kg wasserfreie, fein gepulverte Zitronensäure werden mit   2 I. -g trockenem   Chlor-   methylalkohol   gemischt und im Autoklaven etwa vier Stunden auf 130 bis 1400 erhitzt.

   In the D.R.P. No. 129255 a method for the preparation of methylenzitronensiture is described which consists in allowing citric acid to act on paraformaldehyde at higher temperatures. According to the tests we have carried out, however, this process does not proceed quantitatively; rather, only a maximum yield of 50% is obtained. The cited patent also mentions that one can proceed in such a way that formaldehyde solution is allowed to act on citric acid in the presence of hydrochloric acid; the result, as is expressly mentioned, is said to be "less advantageous" than when used by Paraformaldebyd.
