Österreichische PATENTSCHRIFT N 17770.
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Die Tastenhebel besitzen Ausbauchungen, worin die in Fig. 4, 4 a, 4 b, 4 c und 4 d dargestellten verschiedenen Hebel sich hin und her bewegen ; diese Hebel lagern drehbar in den Punkten as und es ist der vordere Hebel al (Fig. 4), womit jeder Tastenhebel versehen ist, für die Drehung des Typenrades vorgesehen, während der zweite Hebel a2 (Fig. 4 a) zur Hebung des Rades dient und nur an jenen Tasten angeordnet ist, womit eine direkte Hebung des Rades in die Schriftlinie zu bewirken ist ;
Hebung erfordern, in Wegfall kommen.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 24 zeigt diesen Ausschlag für Doppeltypen, Fig. 25 für Dreistellentypen.

Austrian PATENT LETTERING N 17770.
EMI1.1
The subject of the present invention is a typewriter which, equipped with a side-swinging type wheel or type ship segment, enables the writing of individual letters and of syllables composed of several letters.
In the accompanying drawings: FIG. 1 shows the view of the type wheel, on the circumference of which the individual letters, characters and syllables are attached. All of two or three
EMI1.2
Toggle switch must be raised to the letter height. This arrangement is the same as in the known systems, only that the key buttons belonging to the individual characters are not arranged in three, but in only two rows, while the third row of the 'keys'

causes.
The fourth, fifth and sixth row of the keyboard corresponds to the three-digit types and places them both vertically and laterally in the baseline. The type wheel has four rows of types of this type, but the two lowest types, like the individual types, have key buttons in common, so that for one of them a special toggle lever is again required.
The lifting of the type wheel and its lateral rotation is shown in FIGS. 22, 23, 24, 25. Fig. 22 shows the rotation through the key lever for two-digit types, Fig. 23 shows the same for three-digit types, Fig. 24 shows the lifting of the type wheel when the key lever is pressed down for a double type, Fig. 25 the same for a three-digit type, in short, automatic switching; Fig. 2 () is the section through the whole machine.
The machine has two side parts connected by cross members; the front one has slots for better guidance of the keyboard levers, which are rotatably mounted on the crossbars (Fig. 26).
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
2 shows the top and side views of a key lever with a cutout for mounting on the crossbars a4, as well as the stop against 04 ', whereby a uniform limitation is achieved when the key lever is low pressure. The latter have a pin at the tip which slides in the slot of the extension lever a (FIGS. 3 and 22 to 26); these levers a are lined up at points ssss and rotatable so that when the keys are pressed, the pieces a also go down and return to the rest position by the tension spring a (FIG. 26).
The key levers have bulges in which the various levers shown in FIGS. 4, 4 a, 4 b, 4 c and 4 d move back and forth; these levers are rotatably supported in points as and it is the front lever a1 (Fig. 4), with which each key lever is provided, for the rotation of the type wheel, while the second lever a2 (Fig. 4 a) is used to lift the wheel and is only located on those keys with which a direct lifting of the wheel into the baseline is to be effected;
the lift! ag can be activated by means of the changeover switch mentioned as well as on the top type lines, which do not
Require elevation, come to an end. The levers 01 and above are under the action of springs which press the attachment surface of the transverse part of the lever against the lower edge of the associated button lever. By pressing down this attachment surface loses its
Base. The spring comes into effect, lever a1 deflects and presses on the movable frames c (FIGS. 5 and 26), whereby depending on the size of the stop of al one
Rotation of the frame c mounted in b3 and b4 takes place. The deflection of the lever al is regulated by a screw te mounted above it (Fig. 26), whereby the
Rotation of the frame c is determined.
Fig. 22 shows the rotation of the frame c at
Lower pressure of the two-digit keys, Fig. 23 for three-digit keys.
Fig. 5 and 5 a shows the frame c; one end rests rotatably in the side walls of the Mascbinongestütles, the other in its middle support. Each frame c has two side flanges which are connected by a rod on which the levers 01 and a2 act and thereby cause the rotation of c.
The side flanges of the frame is segment-like and toothed along the periphery, whereby the threat of the frame c on a toothed roller c. (Fig. 6 a, H and 26) is transmitted, which is connected by a pin with the type wheel and this rotates.
From FIG. 1 it can also be seen that in the rest position the three-digit types on the right and left face the hammers, but the one- and two-digit types are turned away.
As a result, the toothed roller c2 must be rotated to the left or right and therefore two separate frames c are attached so that one toothed segment engages c2 on the left and the other on the right (FIG. 5a); In the rest position, however, both tooth segments are out of contact with ce, rather their teeth only engage in cI when a key is pressed and only one frame c can be rotated at a time. When the key has stopped being pressed, the spring engaging the toothed segment comes into play, as does the one on the key lever
EMI2.1
is enough.
Simultaneously with the rotation of the type wheel, it is raised. The front levers a2 (Fig. 4 a and 4c) are in the same way in connection with the key levers, as al and are at rest with their front lugs under movable frames c3 (Fig. 8 and 26), which in the side parts and the center support of the machine.
If a key lever is pressed, the Heb6 comes on! a2 becomes effective through a stop; This results in a rotation of the frame Cg (Fig. 7). The two frames 3 are separated from one another, but provided in the middle with lugs which support the axis 9 (FIG. B) of the type wheel. If a lever C3 turns, 9 and with it the type wheel is raised.
Depending on the size of the stop, the lifting also takes place, which is done by the adjusting screws! V1 can be regulated. Fig. 24 shows the device for lifting the double types, Fig. 25 that of the triple types into the baseline by pressing a key. At the stroke adjustment lever a2 there is also a second, shorter extension which engages under a frame c4 (FIG. 8). This is used to operate the protective plate, the device of which is described later. The setting lever a1 and lifting lever a2 achieve an immediate setting of the rotation as well as the lifting of the type wheel. These functions take place before the end of the keystroke, so that the desired type is set before the hammer blows.
The operation of the hammers as well as the paper slide gear is pushed by pressing down the frames X, Y, Z (Fig. 10). They rest in a common turning
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
points t, which is attached to the side frames of the machine. These frames are pressed down by the extension piece a connected to the key lever (FIG. 2).
The frames X, Y, Z are independent of each other. The inner frame X is pressed down by the single-type levers, the middle Y by the double-type levers, and the outer Z by the three-position type levers. The side surfaces of these frames are interconnected by cross members on which the tie rods jss (Fig. 11 to lac) tir the
EMI3.1
The hammers are respectively in points B. C resp. D positioned, but so that they hit the same point; they can move into each other (Fig. 11 c), since they never work at the same time. The fall of the hammers such as the frames X, Y, Z is caused by the springs H attached to the latter (Figs. 24 to 26). The latter are tensioned by pressing down the frames; when you let go of the button lever, they cause the hammers, the racks X, Y, Z and the extension levers a to fall. These springs H also help to restore the original position of a1 and a2 and the button lever itself with the spring ssg of the key lever.
When the hammer blows, the transport of the paper carriage must begin when the button lever is released. The same is a triple shift for the present machine, for the double types, the double, and for the three-digit types, the three-fold greater displacement than for the individual types. When the frames X, Y, Z are pressed down, they hit the regulating screws T on the rotatable frame K at different heights (FIG. 13). This is stored at point L and a smaller or larger deflection is achieved when pressing down X, Y, Z as required. FIG. 24 shows this deflection for double types, FIG. 25 for three-digit types. The side parts of the frame J are connected by a cross member W, to which the push rod U is attached. The upward movement of the frame K is now transmitted to a coupling.
This consists of a sleeve N (Fig. 14), the circumference of which is toothed; in the same there is a slotted resilient ring R (FIG. 15), which, attached to pins by means of holes r1, r2, carries a lever t'g to which the push rod U is attached. When moving the frame K upwards, the slotted ring R will only be able to rotate in the sleeve N without taking the same with it, u. zw. Until the deflection of the frame K resulting from hitting the keyboard is reached.
If the frame X, Y, Z returns to its original position, the force of the spring S attached to K causes this frame 7 to take effect, in that it also snaps back into its rest position. This decrease leaves an opposite effect on the clutch. The ring R is expanded by this pull at r3 and presses itself into the hole N, as a result of which it lifts the snap device L2 (FIG. 2G) attached to its toothed circumference. This, stored in Li, engages with the upper cutting edge in a toothed wheel M2, on the axis of which sits a gear P, which engages in the rack q of the transport carriage (Fig. 16 and 16c).
The latter is under the
Effect of a steel band spring, which sits in a housing on the left side of the machine and pushes the slide immediately further as soon as the snap device L2 lifts out of the wheel (Fig. 16 to 1 (ic) - this is achieved when K is flipped down by As a result, the wheel N is rotated more or less according to the deflection of the frame. The snap device L2 is therefore lifted three times for three-digit types, twice for double-digit types, and only once for single-digit types; the spring L3 attached to Lg pulls the Lez into the original location back.
17 and 18 show the lifting of the protective plate, which is provided with several holes for the passage of single, double and triple types at the impression point and each time with the corresponding opening in front of the type intended for printing.
Fig. 17 shows the sheet for double types, Fig. 18 for triple. Like he used to be.
EMI3.2
Fixing the three changeover switches that lift the type ship. The same are formed gabet-shaped at their end and reach with their cutouts under the approaches of the axis 9 of the type disc. These switches are rotatably mounted in the left side part of the machine and have stops to limit their travel U111.
