   Verfahren zur Herstellung von Glühkörpern. 



   Die gewöhnlichen   Glühstrümpfe   werden aus Baumwollgewebe verfertigt, die mit einer Lösung seltener Erdsalze imprägniert worden, worauf das Gewebe getrocknet und die Baumwolle durch Abbrennen vollkommen entfernt wird. Die gewöhnlichen, gestrickten Strümpfe besitzen eine ziemlich glatte rechte Seite, welche nach aussen gekehrt ist, und eine rauhere linke Seite, welche nach innen gekehrt ist ; dieses gewöhnliche Strumpfgewirke zeigt bei jeder Maschinentour eine quer durchlaufende, etwas hervortretende Rippe. Diese Rippen an der Innenseite verhindern die innige Berührung der Flamme mit der   Leuchtnäche   des Strumpfes. 



   Es sind wohl Glühkiirper mit rauher Aussenseite bekannt geworden; aber diese rauhe   Aussenseite   wurde dadurch hervorgebracht, dass man zur Verstärkung des Strumpfes Aussen-

  Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dass man die Strümpfe so strickt, dass ihre glatte Seite nach innen und die rauhe Seite nach aussen gekehrt ist oder dadurch, dass man die Innenseite (rauhe Seite) der gewöhnlichen Baumwollstrümpfe vor oder nach dem Imprägnieren derselben nach aussen kehrt
Photometrische Messungen haben ergeben, dass die Lichstärke 10-15% zunimmt, wenn die   Glühstrümpfe   in dieser verbesserten Weise hergestellt werden.

   The usual mantles are made of cotton fabric that has been impregnated with a solution of rare earth salts, after which the fabric is dried and the cotton is completely removed by burning. The ordinary knitted stockings have a fairly smooth right side which is turned outward and a rougher left side which is turned inward; this ordinary knitted hosiery shows a transverse, somewhat protruding rib on every machine tour. These ribs on the inside prevent the flame from touching the luminous surface of the stocking.
