Mat, in particular doormat made of wickerwork, made of flexible material and process for the production thereof
The present invention relates to a hand-braided mat with a square (checkerboard) or rectangular pattern using a flexible material, in particular coconut yarn or the like, and a method for producing such a mat, which is suitable for any width or bar distance and the number of rods can be carried out in the same way and provides a pure surface pattern of the type mentioned.
It is already known to produce mats with a square or rectangular pattern by weaving technology using two differently colored thread groups (weft or warp threads) through appropriate shedding.
When braiding a mat over a series of rods, it has so far not been possible to produce a mat with a square or rectangular pattern either with a single or with two braiding yarns of different structure or color. For this purpose, a new type of braiding process must be followed when using two braiding yarns having different structures or colors, u.
between the two yarns, each of which is to run through the entire mat surface in one go, must alternately be braided back and forth over the bars in such a way that each of them extends over the
Height of the pattern (the one with the square pattern of the
Rod distance, i.e. the width of the pattern) the individual layers of each of the
Both braiding yarns are placed around the bars in opposite waves
There and backward runs coincide with one another, the yarns crossing at the edge rods in such a way that the yarn moving there back and forth behind the edge rod lies with its end loop above the yarn moving there back and forth in front of the edge rod.
When braiding over the entire row of rods, the height of the square or
Reached a rectangular pattern, then the position of the two braiding yarns changes to one another with respect to the braiding rods; The rest of the braiding process is again carried out in such a way that all layers of each of the two yarns overlap each other on all back and forth runs.
The drawing shows in Figs. 1 and 2 that
Braiding scheme and in Figs. 3 and 4 schematically the resulting square (or chessboard) or the rectangular pattern. The bars are consecutively labeled I, 2 to 5. One braiding yarn a is fully drawn out, the other b is shown as a double line. The yarn a runs with a1 behind the rod 1 then with a2 in front of the rod 2 etc. The yarn b runs with b1 in front of the rod 1 with b2 behind the rod 2 etc.
At the edge bar 5, the yarn a with ar at the back first wraps around the front yarn b at bij and this is now braided back against the bar 1 in the same wave as when the bar 5 descends, so that it is finally back in front of è. a rod 1 comes to rest. In the same way, the yarn a running behind the edge rod 5 is braided back in the same position with respect to the rods as when going to the rod 1, where it comes to lie behind the rod 1 again. After the two yarns have been looped around the opposite side, the front yarn b now runs back from over rod 1 to the right, etc.
If the height of the surface parts is the same as the bar spacing (square pattern), then the yarns on the left edge bar are crossed in such a way that the yarn that was previously backwards is braided over the bar at the front, the one at the front backwards over the bar to the right and from there again the Braiding process already described with congruent back and forth runs of each of the two yarns is observed.
If the selected height does not correspond to the bar spacing, a rectangular pattern is created.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Mat, in particular doormat made of wickerwork made of flexible material (especially coconut yarn), characterized in that two braiding yarns of different structure or color in the wickerwork that run through the entire mat in one go form a square or rectangular pattern.
