Austrian PATENT LETTERING? 16515.
HENRY COPSON PEAKE AND JOHN ROBERT ENGLISH m WALSALL WOOD NEAR WALSALL (STAFFORD, ENGLAND).
(Cutting machine.
The subject of the present invention are innovations in cutting machines for coal and other; Rocks and its purpose is to create a solid and suitable machine, which can effectively carry out its work in all directions. the working part being arranged so that it can be moved in a full circle and allows vertical adjustment within a considerable amount.
In the drawings, FIG. 1 illustrates a side view of a coal cutting machine manufactured according to the present invention, FIG. 2 shows partly in view, partly in

The Hauerwerkzcugo are attached to the carrier a, which is directly coupled to the shaft b of the motor or attached to the same in a corresponding manner. The motor is attached or suspended from a rotatable ring or bed c provided with worm wheel teeth on its circumference. (Figs. 1, o and 4 show the on

Machine carried and is adjustable in relation to the uprights carrying the wheels in the vertical direction.
The motor can be an electric motor, a pneumatic motor or another suitable one.
In the drawings a direct current electric motor with four armored poles is shown, which is completely enclosed.
The end of the armature shaft b opposite the commutator is a disk

With the worm wheel, ring or bed c on which the motor is suspended, a worm p is in engagement on a shaft q, which has a worm wheel at its end, in which another worm r engages, which is expediently carried out by hand in

werkxeugc can be turned completely around in a circle.
For ordinary coal mining operations, the best effect of the machine is obtained when the carrier of the chipping tool is set at an angle to the axis of the machine. Thus, the line AB indicates the position of the carrier when the machine is working in the direction of arrow C, while when working in the direction of arrow F, the carrier is best set according to the line DE to relieve the knocks and vibrations originating from the chopping, can bezw on the sides of the main frame d. of the motor housing w approaches or

The device for moving the whole machine along the rails by which it is supported can be arranged in various ways. Such an arrangement consists of a drum! which winds a rope or chain, from which the

a cable or chain drive is provided in rotation from one end of the motor shaft b. The device for transmitting the movement from the motor shaft b to the drum x consists of a rope.
or chain disk y on the motor shaft b, or the same corresponding disk z on an angular wool (Fig. 4) and a Sclmeckonwcllo, which is connected to the angular shaft, which worm shaft engages in a worm wheel which is arranged such that it sets a wheel drive in motion, the amount of advance of the machine can be changed in a known manner as required.
An angle shaft with disk z and the worm wheel connection is as in Fig. 4. shown, arranged at each end of the machine so that the drum x, which is mounted with the drive in a special, removable frame, can be attached to one of the other ends of the machine, depending on the direction in which the whole machine should be moved. The connection of the main frame d to

By turning the screws 3 in the desired direction, the height of the working parts of the machine above the upper edge of the rail can easily be changed within wide limits. Apart from the axis for the running wheel, which is perpendicular to the vortex plane through the rails, each stand has J!. hole an auxiliary axis 5, which is parallel to the rails and whose purpose will be explained later.
A machine like the one described above is particularly suitable for coal mining according to the system known as longwall mining, but can also be used for other rocks and other mining systems. If the center of the cut to be made is located in the seam within certain distances from the upper edge of the rails on which the machine is arranged (e.g. not more than 500 mm and not less than 250 111 m), it becomes a closed whole forming working part (the motor with the carrier of the hammering tools attached to it), as shown in the drawing, arranged next to the ring c provided with the worm gear teeth or suspended on the same.
By simply placing and securing the

Working heights of 850 to 1150 mm above the top of the rail. Working at heights of 500 to 850 mm above the rails can be done by reversing the main

becomes. If in this case the motor is arranged above the surface 8, the dismantling can be carried out at the aforementioned heights. About the tussock at height

is attached, is arranged (Fig. 5 and 6). The machine works along the surface of the seam from left to right or from right to left; As stated above, the motor with the attached support for the hammer tools can be rotated in a full circle with the aid of the means described, with the frame and the support wheels remaining stationary if necessary.
However, when the motor is suspended from the ring c, it is necessary to remove the individual stands one after the other. in order to allow the Triiger the passage to full access in the circle, after which passage it is reinstated. This can, however, be carried out without difficulty and without decency, since the machine is then held with sufficient security by the three remaining stands and the carrier guided in the Fioze. When the machine is put into operation, the carrier works his own way into the coal with the tools attached to it, while at the end of the handling he paves his way out of the coal himself.
To move the machine transversely to a new coal surface, the uprights 1 are lifted, one after the other, by the screws 3 and nuts 4 to allow the wheels to be removed from the usual axle journal and to be fitted onto the auxiliary journal 5. When all four wheels have been moved in this way, the whole machine can easily be moved across the wheels in order to bring them into the position suitable for the next house.
