1 shows a diagrammatic representation of the pressure-quantity characteristics of a valve according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a valve in elevation, FIG. 3 shows a section through the switching device along line xx of FIG. 4, and FIG. 4 shows a section through the switching device Line yy of FIG. 3.
In FIG. 1, the throughput quantities Q are plotted on the abscissa, and the pressure drop values H caused by the valve are plotted on the ordinate. T is the characteristic of the valve (without a bore), which can be reduced by known means and also by appropriate selection of the spring constants.
Line V is the pressure-volume characteristic of the connecting line between the two
Valve sides (i.e. the bore) without taking into account a lift of the plate. This can be obtained correspondingly steep by the arrangement and the cross section of the bore.
The loaded valve with bore works according to the strongly extended branches of the two curves T and V.
This strongly drawn out curve, the valve characteristic, has one at 1
Bend below which relatively large pressure differences occur with almost constant flow rates. The invention uses this fact to produce the quantity-dependent switch-off pulse for the device.
In FIG. 2 of the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of a valve according to the invention is shown
Outline shown. 2 is the valve body, 3 is the
Plate with spring 4 and guide 5 for the
Bolt 6 of the plate. 7 is a connecting line between the two valve sides in the form of a hole in the plate, 8 and 9 are connection openings of the two valve sides and 10,
11 arrows that indicate the direction of flow of water from the pump to the consumption points.
The mode of operation of the valve, taking into account its characteristics - Fig. l-is the following:
When large amounts of water flow through, the disk is raised against the spring force and the operating point of the valve lies on the upper, flat branch of curve T. If the flow decreases, the disk goes down more and more and the operating point shifts on the characteristic curve T to the left.
When putting the plate on its seat
Point 1 of the characteristic reached. Now flee
Water only through hole 7 of the
Plate 3 and the working point moves sharply downward on curve V. In this case, with the minimal decrease in quantity from ql to q2, there is a relatively large decrease in the pressure drop from PI to P2 caused by the valve. This sudden lowering of the pressure drop is, as already mentioned, by means of two connecting lines connected to the openings 8 and 9 to the den
The device containing the switch is transmitted and the switching process causing the switch-off is thereby triggered.
3 and 4 are illustrations of an embodiment of the device according to the invention, u. FIG. 3 shows a section through the device along the line x-x in FIG. 4, and FIG. 4 shows a section through the device along the line y-y in FIG. 3.
A multi-part housing 12 accommodates: A mercury toggle switch 13 - here designed with two poles - as well as a system that transmits the switch-on pulse to the switch, which essentially consists of a membrane 14 and spring 15, and a second system that transmits the switch-off pulse, which essentially consists of two concentric spring tubes 16 and 17 is formed. In addition, bores 19 and 19 are provided, which make the connection with the connection socket. jnn or ss des Venüles

the axis 20 pivotable carrier 21 for the two mercury switching tubes 22, 23 and two stops 24, 25 for the attack of the two systems causing the switching operations.
An arm 26 connected to the membrane 14 and spring 15 system acts on the stop 24, and a pressure pin 28 connected to the spring tubes 16 and 17 via their end plate 27 acts on the stop 25. The spring 29 tries to move the toggle switch into the off position and to hold it in this position.
The space under the diaphragm 14 is connected to the bore 19 by means of an appropriately throttling puncture 30, which at the same time communicates with the space between the spring tubes 16 and 17 through channels 31 of a body 32 firmly seated in the housing. The space outside the spring tubes and below the end plate 27 communicates with the bore 18. The spring tubes 16, 17 are tightly connected in a known manner to their end members, the plate 27 and the body 32; the space inside the inner spring tube 16 is in communication with the atmospheric pressure through the guide for the pressure pin 28.
The operation of the device is as follows: Is the water supply system at rest, i. H. if water is neither withdrawn nor conveyed, the valve is closed except for the bore 7, in which, however, there is no flow. The spring 29 holds the switch 13 in the "off" position. If a pressure drop occurs in the system as a result of the withdrawal of water, the pressure in the space below the membrane 14 drops, the force of the spring 15 outweighs the force of the membrane, the arm 26 hits the stop 24 and tilts - Against the force of the spring 29, turn the switch to the "on" position. The pump begins to run, the water being pumped flows through it
Valve and lifts plate 3.
The
EMI2.2
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The waste P3 in the valve is now large enough to make the spring tubes 16, 17 function. The force acting on the end plate 27 from bottom to top outweighs the force directed from top to bottom; the latter is given by the spring force of the two pipes 16 and 17 and by the weight of this system - pipes plus pressure pin 28. As a result of the difference between the two mentioned pressures, the plate together with the pressure pin is raised, approaches the stop 25 or hits it, so that the switch can be held in the "on" position by both systems.
In the meantime, as a result of the pump delivery, the pressure in the pipe network and in the space under the membrane 14 connected to it has risen to such an extent that its effect outweighs the force of the spring 15 and the arm 26 rises. This releases the stop 24 and the spring 29 could bring the switch 13 into the "off" position. Since the pin 28 has already been raised at this point in time, this effort by the spring 29 remains unsuccessful; the switch remains in the tilted "on" position because it is held by the pressure pin 28.
Only when the pump delivery rate has dropped to the value ql by closing the outlet points and water only flows through the bore in the valve does the sudden sharp drop in pressure difference between the points in front of and behind the valve mean between openings 8 and 9 - including the Pressure difference in the system of the spring tubes 16,
17 drop and cause the pressure pin 28 to go down. At the same time, the spring 29 pulls up the left side of the carrier 21 of the toggle switch, whereby the pump motor is switched off and the pump is stopped.
In order to avoid the fact that shortly after the motor has been switched on due to a rapid pressure increase before the valve or the spring tube system takes effect, it is advantageous to activate the network pressure
Membrane 14 transmitting line, preferably by appropriate design of the transparent 30, to bring about a throttling effect.

Feed pumps of water supply systems or the like, in particular domestic waterworks of low power, characterized by a device in which a single switching element, preferably a known mercury toggle switch, both the effect of a pulse for a pressure-dependent switch-on, and the effect of a pulse for a flow rate-dependent Switching off is subject to and executes the switching movements under these pulses.
