Flussschiff

River boat
River navigation with the river boats currently in use has various difficulties caused by narrow fairways, low water levels, strong currents and the like. similar more caused to fight.
Large draft of the ships and large overall width, due to the drive elements arranged on the side and the need for the
Turning the ship every time when going from uphill to downhill or vice versa are the main shortcomings of the river boats commonly used.
Ships with stern and bow rudders have become known, but these ships have drive elements (paddle wheels) arranged on the side, so that this type of construction, although it avoids turning when the direction of travel is reversed, still has the lack of large ones The overall width appears to be affected.
The present invention is intended to remedy all of the foregoing deficiencies and to create a riverboat which has a high degree of maneuverability at a shallow draft and a construction width limited to the width of the hull and can reverse its direction of travel without turning.
This is achieved by the fact that the drive

Sprockets 7.
The drive elements 1 arranged in pairs in the channels, expediently fully submerged
Bucket wheels with rotating blades are protected against any mechanical damage by the hull. The other advantages of this arrangement are known.
The operation of the rudder mechanism is as follows: The hand wheel 8 is connected to either the right or left chain wheel 7 depending on the direction of travel, for which purpose the disengageable clutches 9 are used. The pair of steering rudders lying ahead in the direction of travel is placed against one another with the outer edges so that they touch at an acute angle; this is effected in that the chain pusher 4 is moved towards the center of the ship by means of suitable devices, the center chain 6 taking the endless control chain with it in the same direction. The central chain 6 is then fixed in the clamping lug 5 as soon as the outer edges of the rudder 2 have come into contact.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. River ship, characterized by the drive by means of fully submersible paddle wheels and the paired arrangement of rudders at both ends of the ship in trough-shaped, on the bottom of the ship in channels running towards the center of the ship in pairs arranged drive by means of fully submersible paddle wheels and the paired arrangement of rudders at both ends of the ship The pair of oars facing ahead is adjusted by suitable means so that the outer edges of the oars touch.
