Auge beide Kreisfelder in gleicher Farbhelligkeit erblickt.

Eye sees both circular fields in the same color brightness. The percentage of the sample solution can be read directly from the division on 2. In order to switch off the influence of the light absorption of the possibly self-colored solution, the innermost Eprouvette 2 is used as a compensation vessel according to the well-known Walpole principle.
In order to move the comparison fields as close as possible to one another, in a further embodiment of the invention, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the head-like extension k is pressed in on one side so that the test tube 1 'can be moved closer. 5 and 6 show the design when the second vessel also has a widened head. Here both inflations are flattened on one side.
Fig. 7 shows a perfect device for the measurement of samples containing e.g. B. depending on their pH, change the color, for example from yellow to blue. The device can also be used for other color measurement purposes.
With their help you can determine both the color tone and the color depth of the sample solution.
The color tone measurement can be expanded from two-color to three-color (which, if the right color is chosen, amounts to multi-color) by inserting a third sample.
In this example, both tubes 1 and 1 'are provided with crimps k, k' and also the immersing tubes 2 and 2 'with crimps k2 and k2' into which the smooth tubes 3 and 3 'are immersed. The first tube system, which in the simpler case of the single-color measurement is only used in its middle part 2, but in the case of the hue and color depth measurement also in its lower part for receiving the (second) comparison color solution, is called the comparison set for short, while the system, which is exactly the same of sample tubes, which is used to receive the sample solution in its middle part 2 ', briefly referred to as the sample set.
The empty lower part 1 or 1 'is filled with distilled water. But 1 'can also serve to receive a second sample solution, which can be completely switched off by lowering the middle part 2 when measuring the first sample solution. The tubes 1 and 3, as well as the tubes 1 'and 3' are mounted in the frame r with an invariable distance so that the total liquid columns, which are caused by the distance between the bottoms of the tubes 1 and 1 'on the one hand and that of the empty tubes 3 and 3 'on the other hand is given, are always the same and unchangeable and only the ratio of the division of this unchangeable distance can be changed by moving the Eprouvette 2 (or 2').
In this way, the color comparison was extended to two colors and their mixtures. (Principle of the double wedge!) In addition, the depth of color can also be determined at the same time by moving the middle sample 2 'of the sample set. In any case, Walpole's principle of compensating for self-colored or cloudy solutions is fully and completely fulfilled. To do this, double the layer thickness in the comparison set, which is given by the fixed distance of 5 cm, by pouring the self-colored or cloudy solution into the innermost Eprouvette 3, which corresponds to exactly 10 cm3 for this model. With the sample set, on the other hand, 10 cm3 of distilled water is pipetted into the innermost Eprouvette 3 ', so that the layer thickness has now also become twice as large.
The outermost and at the same time bottom test tube is filled with the solution of its own color or with a cloudy solution instead of distilled water. In this way, in the comparison system as well as in the sample system, the visible layer thickness, whatever the mean sample position, is composed of equal parts of distilled water and cloudy or intrinsically colored solvent.
To compare the colors of the two liquid columns, mirrors or mirror prisms p and p 'are arranged above the mouths of the tubes 3 and 3', and the like. between the right the prism p 'only up to the middle of the tube width (FIG. 8), so that the mirror images, as FIG. 9 shows, are composed of two semicircular surfaces, of which the image 8 shows the view through the tubes 1, 2 and 3, the picture 8 'shows the view through the tubes 1', 2 'and 3'. Using magnifying glasses, the image can be enlarged so that the corresponding dimmed circular image of the innermost tube can be easily compared.
To avoid disrupting the possibility of comparing the comparison fields, the reflection on the glass walls of the tubes is effectively eliminated by applying a waterproof and acid-resistant paint on the inner surface of the innermost sample tube 3 (or 3 '), the so-called viewing tube. In Fig. 10 the view into the pipe is illustrated with and without reflection.
The device is enclosed in a light-tight housing which can be opened for the purpose of reading the scales analogously to the scales 4 and 4 ′ in FIG. In order to achieve a uniform illumination of the field of vision, the bottoms of individual or all tubes z. B. be matted by hydrofluoric acid etching. The number of tubes which can be slid into one another is not limited to the example of three tubes. You can of course also have several colors or a richer color range for comparison, e.g. B. four or an even larger number of tubes can be provided.
