An seinem hinteren

held, which is pushed down by the action of the spring 23 ".
On the end of the axis 7, which is opposite the end carrying the lever 8, a block 32 is rotatably mounted on the outer surface of the cheek 2, which is connected to a foot 33 with a corrugated part 34 and whose inner surface carries an eye 35 in which a spring 36 (FIG. 4) is accommodated, the free end of which engages in the perforated ring 6 of the wheel 4. The block 32 has on its outer surface a groove 32 '(FIG. 2) which receives the end of the return spring 9. At his back
In part, the block is provided with a bevel 37 with a retaining notch or catch 38 and ends at the rear with a recess 39, the lower part 39 'of which is a guide to a section marked below
Purposes.
On the handle 1, a lever 41 is rotatably mounted in 42, which is subject to the action of a return spring 43 and is connected to a pawl 40 which cooperates with the catch 38.
The pawl 40 is usually engaged in the detent 38 of the block 32, as shown in FIG.
While the various parts occupy the position shown in Fig. 2, a tire band is placed in a well-known manner around the package to be looked around and the wheel 4 must be raised so that the tool can be placed over the tire band in such a way that the superimposed ends of the On the upper surface of the base 33 in the correct position for tensioning. For this purpose it is sufficient to rotate the eccentric axis 7 backwards by guiding the lever 8. You can then bring the tires into position and let go of the lever 8 so that the return spring 9 returns it to its initial position, where the wheel 4 is placed against the tires.
By moving the handle or lever 13 from bottom to top, you can operate the pawl 10, which takes along the wheels, the teeth of which tighten the upper end of the tires.
When the desired tension has been reached, the sleeve or seal that is to be sealed is fitted onto the tire.
In order to carry out the sealing, the jaws must be brought into the working position. For this purpose, the lever 41 is pressed in order to release the pawl 40 from the detent 38. At this moment the handles 1 and 13 and the whole mechanism can swing forward about the axis 7 in order to bring the jaws into the working position.
In this turning movement, the wheel 4 is held in its tensioned position on the tires, u. zw. by the spring 36, which is latched into the teeth or the bolt circle 6. In this way the tension of the tires is maintained.
In addition, at the beginning of this folding movement, the pawl 10 is found released from the ratchet wheel J by the guide 39 ′, which has come to act on the pin 10 ′ of this pawl.
With the jaws thus in the working position, it is sufficient to act on the lower handle or lever 13 to bring the jaws closer together and the sleeve to be sealed. The lever 13 is then released and, after the tires have been cut off, the lever 8 is returned to the rear beyond the seal in order to release the engagement of the tensioning wheel. The oscillating arrangement is then pivoted backwards until the pawl 40 engages in its catch 38 and the tool can then be released by sliding it sideways.
