Device to compensate for the influence of temperature changes on the excitation of electrical
Machinery.
It is known that in electrical machines which have an externally supplied or shunted excitation winding, changes in the voltage or speed of the machine occur as a result of a change in the resistance of the excitation winding when the machine is heated, because the current flowing through the excitation winding and thus the field changes. The invention relates to a device for avoiding the influence of changes in resistance of the field winding caused by temperature changes with an automatic resistance control device connected to the circuit of the field winding, which according to the invention is controlled depending on the ratio between the voltage applied to the field winding and the current of the field effect.
In the following, the invention will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment which relates, for example, to a diesel-electric power transmission.
In the circuit diagram shown in the drawing, 10 denotes a heat engine, 11 denotes the generator driven by it. The excitation winding 12 is fed by any voltage source, the voltage of which may be denoted by V. The generator 11 can, for example, be used to feed a load circuit L, which consists of vehicle engines.
In order to compensate for the changes in the resistance of the field winding 12 caused by temperature changes in the generator 11, an automatic, for example a motor-driven resistance regulator 13 is provided which is connected to the circuit of the field winding 12. Furthermore, an additional resistor 14 is provided, which is set by hand and is used to adjust the generator voltage and thus the generator current to a specific value. The control element 19 of the resistor 13 is driven by a motor 15.

direction is provided. If the regulating element 19 of the regulating resistor 13 is driven in one direction, the resistor is switched on in the circuit of the field winding.
When the control member 19 moves in the opposite direction, resistance is gradually switched off from the field circuit. The operation of the motor 15 is monitored by a relay 22 which can be designed as a balance beam relay. This relay has two fixed contact members 23 and 24 which are arranged on opposite sides of a movable contact member 25; this is carried by the arm 26. The arm 26 is normally held in its central position by springs 27 and 28. If the contact 25 is brought into contact with the contact 23, the motor receives current via the field winding 17 and controls the regulating element 19 in such a way that resistance from the circuit of the field winding 12 is switched off.
Similarly, when the contact 25 touches the stationary contact 24, the motor is switched on via the field winding 18 and the control element is actuated so that additional resistance is switched on in the circuit of the field winding 12 in order to reduce the excitation current.
The relay 22 is provided with a voltage coil 31 which is connected to the voltage V supplied to the field winding 12. In addition, the relay 22 has a current coil 32 which is connected in series with the field winding 12. The operation of the relay depends on the ratio between the voltage applied to the field winding and the current flowing through the field winding. This is due to the fact that the current or. Voltage coil act on two magnetic cores that are connected to
