Photocell with selenium amplification system.
The invention relates to a photocell in which the photo current is increased by triggering secondary electrons. Cells of this type are known in which the cathode covers most of a spherical enlargement of the vessel. An attachment in which the reinforcement system is located is attached to the ball. In order to feed all released electrons to the amplification system, a relatively high voltage must be applied to the first pulling electrode, which is located at the entrance to the attachment.
According to the invention, an electron-permeable pulling electrode is provided which protrudes into the extension of the cell. In this way, it is possible to achieve saturation of the photocurrent with considerably lower voltages on this electrode. The electrode can be designed as a finger-shaped network protruding into the extension. If necessary, one or more of the next electrodes can also be arched towards the extension. The first electrode can also be used to trigger secondary electrons.
The drawing shows an embodiment. The photocell 1 almost completely covers the inner surface of the spherical extension of the cell. A light entry window 2 is only provided on one side. The approach 3 contains a larger number of trigger electrodes, which in the present case are designed as networks, and the anode of the photocell. With 4 protruding into the extension pull electrode is referred to. The next electrode 5 also has a curvature in the direction of the widening.
The invention can be used with the same advantage in other secondary amplifier systems, e.g. B. in those with adjacent or zigzag opposing trigger electrodes.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A photocell with an extension containing the cathode and an approach containing an amplification system, characterized by an electron-permeable tension electrode protruding into the extension, through which the electrons are fed to the amplification system.
