The annular groove 22 is connected to the channel 8 of the valve body 1. At the height of the transverse bore 19 a, a flat jet nozzle 18 is rotatably inserted into the air nozzle mouthpiece 4, which is pierced in such a way that it forms a continuation of the transverse channel 19 a and forks outward into the two channels 18 a and 18 b. A tightly guided, hollow nozzle needle 9 is inserted into the longitudinal bore 2 of the valve body 1, which protrudes freely into the chamber 11 at the rear end and penetrates the nipple 26 with its front end. The front end of the nozzle needle 9 is conical, u. zw. In such a way that it can close the tapering outlet of the channel 2a. The nozzle needle 9 is not hollow over its entire length, the rear end standing in the chamber 11 is rather solid.
Within the chamber 11, however, the hollow nozzle needle 9 has a plurality of air inlet openings 21.
The front opening of the hollow nozzle needle 9 is denoted by 17.
The chamber 11 of the valve body 1 is closed by a closure cover 25. In the center of this is a screw 16 provided with a partial bore, in the bore of which the rear end of the nozzle needle 9 is guided. The nozzle needle 9 is provided with a collar 12. Between this and the screw 16, a compression spring 15 is arranged, which can be tensioned differently by screwing in the screw 16 more or less. In the air chamber 11, a piston 10 is also accommodated, which is usually pressed against the base of the chamber 11 by a compression spring 13 which is supported against its outside and against the closure lid 25. This pot-like piston 10 is freely movable on the nozzle needle 9, but guided tightly.
The operation of the device is as follows: The compressed air supplied through the inflow opening 24 flows through the air channels 7, 8 and 19 to the air and flat jet nozzles 3 and 18 and via the air chamber 11 through the inlet opening 21 of the nozzle needle 9 to its outlet opening 17 the piston 10 is first moved against the pressure of the spring 13 up to the collar 12 without the nozzle needle 9 causing the spray element to open. Only when the air pressure is increased further is the spring tension of the spring 13 and the additional tension of the compression spring 15 overcome, with the nozzle needle 9 moving and the spray element being opened.
The spray material fed through the inflow opening 6 fills the spray material channel 2 and, when the nozzle needle 9 is moved back, flows out through the resulting conical gap, the compressed air flowing out atomizing the spray material.
The outflowing spray material is captured in a known manner by the compressed air flowing out through the bore 3 and in a novel way through the outlet opening 17 and flat jet opening 18 a, 18 b and thereby evenly atomized. The air flowing through the hollow nozzle needle and outlet opening 17 prevents an accumulation in the axis of the spray cone or the elliptical beam, while the air emerging through the new type of additional flat jet air openings 18a, 18b causes the beam to be flattened further.
The inserts 18, which are arranged in a sectional plane AB in FIG. 2 and provided with flat jet openings 18 a, 18 b, produce a line-like scatter field of the atomized spray material when the beam is flattened, while according to FIGS Triangle-like or any other stray field is achieved. The shape of the spray jet can also be influenced by opening and closing the regulating device 27 to different degrees.
This arbitrary design of the scatter field allows adaptation to the printed product in such a way that the entire printed sheet does not have to be evenly dusted as before, but only the areas of the sheet provided with color are covered, which is an advantage in multi-color printing.
When the compressed air is shut off, the piston 10 moves back to its previous position under the action of the compression spring 13. Immediately after the air has been shut off, the nozzle needle 9, which is also moved back, closes the nozzle.
The compressed air still present in the spray element afterwards also escapes through the nozzle needle 9 and causes the spray material to be atomized, which emerges when the nozzle is closed, thereby avoiding the formation of drops. In order to be able to use the supply of compressed air present in the chamber 11 as completely as possible to blow away the droplets that form, check valves can be provided at the junctions of the channels 7 and 8 in the chamber 11.
Air already flows through the hollow nozzle needle 9 from the chamber 11 when the nozzle is not yet open and blows away any impurities that have accumulated in front of the nozzle.
