Farbspritzkopf.

Paint spray head.
The purpose of the invention is to avoid mist formation and loss of paint during paint spraying with the aid of a customary paint spray head suitable for flat and round spray formation.
A conventional paint spray head for flat and round jets consists of a round paint nozzle and a round atomizer nozzle surrounding this paint nozzle, from which compressed air emerges, which mixes with the paint emerging from the paint nozzle to form a round paint-air jet. If the round color-air jet is to be turned into a flat color-air jet, two of the sides of the
Auxiliary nozzles arranged in the atomizer and paint nozzle, additional air emerge, the axes of these auxiliary nozzles being directed in such a way that the air emerging from them compresses the round paint-air jet in an elliptical shape.
When using such a paint spray head, considerable mist formation occurs.
In addition, the color losses that occur are quite considerable.
To avoid these two disadvantages, it has been proposed to arrange additional nozzles around the atomizer nozzle and the auxiliary nozzles on the usual paint spray head of the type described, which additional nozzles allow air jets to enter the paint-air jet that do not mix completely with it. The invention consists in that the axes of the additional nozzles, which are generally open both in the formation of the round jet and in the formation of the flat jet, run in such a way that they are all open when a flat jet is formed that when forming a
Flat jet all, but only part of the air jets emerging from the additional nozzles when a round jet is formed, enter the color-air jet. In this way you can achieve an optimum effect.
The paint-air jet is held together without fog formation and without paint loss in such a way that it forms a uniform paint film on the surface to be sprayed.
According to the invention, the additional air nozzles can have different diameters, u. in such a way that the diameter of the additional air nozzles, which are to the side of the auxiliary nozzles, are larger than the diameter of the additional air nozzles located next to them and these additional air nozzles located next to them again have a larger diameter than the additional air nozzles, which are roughly in the large axis of the elliptical color Air jet are arranged. This ensures that the color film after the transition points is too finer than perpendicular to it and in this way any streaking is avoided.
At the same time, it is achieved that the additional air hitting the surface to be sprayed has the strongest effect where the paint-air jet has the greatest tendency to bounce off.
In the drawing, a paint spray head is shown in one embodiment, with which one can work according to the invention.
1 shows a longitudinal section along the line 7-7 of FIG. 2, FIG. 2 is a plan view of FIG. 1 in the direction of arrow A, FIG. 3 schematically illustrates the round and flat color impinging on the surface to be addressed -Air jet with the air jets expelled from the additional nozzles.
The paint spray head has, in a manner known per se, a paint nozzle a and a surrounding one
Atomizing nozzle b. Both nozzles have a circular cross-section. The compressed air emerging from the atomizer nozzle b mixes with the paint emerging from the nozzle a to form a round jet of color air,

Example 8) Additional nozzles d, e, f, g, h, i, k, l arranged whose axes are directed so that the compressed air emerging from them can enter both the round and the flat color-air jet, without mixing completely with it.
If a round color-air jet is to be generated, the auxiliary nozzles cl, c2 must of course be closed. This is achieved in a manner known per se in that the cap m is rotated slightly with respect to the atomizer nozzle b. This interrupts the connection between the atomizer nozzle b and the auxiliary nozzles c1, e2.
3 shows the round paint-air jet ti impinging on the surface to be sprayed. As can be seen, according to the invention, only the air jets 0, p, q, ', s and t enter the round jet H, which

According to the invention, the diameters of the nozzles d and k can be larger than the diameters of the nozzles e, g, i and 1, and the diameters of these nozzles can again be larger than the diameters of the nozzles f and k. This means that, viewed in the direction of arrow B in FIG. 3, both the round color-air jet H and the flat color-air jet u pass over more finely than perpendicular thereto.
