Die Erfindung betrifft eine Zündkerze, deren Mittelelektrode umweehselbar ist und welche daher bei annähernd gleichem Herstellungspreis eine längere Betriebsdauer als die gewöhnlichen Zündkerzen aufweist.
Erfindungsgemäss wird diese Zündkerze von einem Isolierkörper mit je einer Elektrode an jedem Ende gebildet, der in einen Teil eines Sockels mit zwei symmetrischen Gewinden eingesetzt ist ; dieser Sockelteil lässt sich in einen andern Teil desselben Sockels einschrauben, der seinerseits in den Zylinderkopf des Motors einschraubbar ist und wenigstens eine seitliche Elektrode oder Masseelektrode enthält. Nachstehend soll an Hand der Zeichnung eine Ausführungsform der erfindungsgemässen Zündkerze beschrieben werden.
Die auf der Zeichnung in axialem Längsschnitt dargestellte Zündkerze wird von einem Mittelkörper 1 aus Isolierstoff gebildet, der im wesentlichen eine doppeltkegelförmige Gestalt aufweist und in dessen Masse eine Spindel 2 versenkt ist, deren beide Enden aus dem Körper 1 herausragen und zwei Elektroden 3a-3b bilden.
Dieser Isolierkörper 1 wird in einen Teil 4 eines Metallsockels eingesetzt. Der Teil 4 wird von zwei Stucken getildet, die durch Eintassung in einen Ring 5 verbunden werden und je eine Gewinde 6 aufweisen, mit dem sie in einen andern Teil 7 desselben Sockels eingeschraubt werden können. Dieser Teil 7 lässt sich in den Zylinderkopf des Motors einschrauben und enthält eine Elektrode 8, die beim Betrieb, wenn der Teil 4 in den Teil 7 eingeschraubt ist, in den üblichen Abstand von der Elektrode 3a bzw. 3b kommt.
Eine Isolierkappe 9 wird auf das freie Gewinde 6 aufgeschraubt und deckt so die unbenutzte Elektrode 3a bzw. 3b ab. Diese Kappe ist von einer Öffnung 10 durchbohrt, um eine Klemme 11 hindurehzulassen, die sich über die nicht benutzte Elektrode 3a bzw. 3b ziehen lässt und die Zuleitung des elektrischen Stromes zur andern Mittelelektrode durch einen Leiter 12 gestattet.
Vorzugsweise wird die auf dem Teil 7 sitzende Elektrode 8innerhalb dieses Teiles derart befestigt, dass sie tangential zu der ihr entsprechenden Elektrode 3a bzw. 3b des Körpers 1 gerichtet ist. Wenn eine der Mittelelektroden-3cc, 3 & abgenutzt oder beschädigt ist, so braucht man nur den Körper 1 mit dem Sockelteil 4 umzukehren, um die andere Mittelelektrode 3b, 3a benutzen zu können.

The spark plug shown in the drawing in axial longitudinal section is formed by a central body 1 made of insulating material, which has a substantially double-conical shape and in the mass of which a spindle 2 is sunk, both ends of which protrude from the body 1 and form two electrodes 3a-3b .
This insulating body 1 is inserted into a part 4 of a metal base. The part 4 is formed by two pieces that are connected by being embedded in a ring 5 and each have a thread 6 with which they can be screwed into another part 7 of the same base. This part 7 can be screwed into the cylinder head of the engine and contains an electrode 8 which, during operation, when part 4 is screwed into part 7, comes at the usual distance from electrode 3a or 3b.
An insulating cap 9 is screwed onto the free thread 6 and thus covers the unused electrode 3a or 3b. This cap is pierced by an opening 10 in order to allow a clamp 11, which can be pulled over the unused electrode 3a or 3b and allows the electrical current to be fed to the other central electrode through a conductor 12.
