Drupkgassehalter.

Drupkgass holder.
It is known to use hollow contacts with consumable pins behind them for switching purposes. The beneficial effect of the erosion pins is based on the fact that they oppose the flow and thus break up the concentrated gas jet. The invention provides an improvement to this arrangement in that the surface of the deflector body opposing the flow is made flat or concave or is drawn inwards in some other form, so that the deflection and thus the operation of the entire switch is significantly improved compared to the older arrangements .
Furthermore, according to the invention it is expedient to make the diameter of this area as large as possible. The opening diameter in the ring electrode does not necessarily have to be exceeded; In this case, however, the distance between the hollow electrode and the deflecting body, which according to the invention is always to be kept small, must be particularly small so that a complete deflection is achieved for the entire flow cross section.
If the deflector is very close behind the hollow electrode, particular care must be taken that the points that are touched by the arc or the base points and therefore high temperatures

can be achieved in that the hollow electrodes, as known per se, are designed in their shape such that they represent an electrical shield for the deflection surface.
1 shows various examples of the shape of the deflector body on the upper and lower electrodes. 1 and 2 are the hollow electrodes, 3 is a deflector with a very large diameter.
The deflecting surface can have a cavity in the shape indicated. The diameter of the straight deflecting surface of the part 4 is slightly smaller than the opening diameter in the hollow contact 2 (so there are known types in which switching pins are pulled through the hollow electrodes to make contact, can also be used here in all embodiments).
As a further example, FIG. 2 shows an arrangement in which the deflecting surface of the body 3 is drawn inwards. For the electrode shown below, the deflector consists of the two

will ; it can accordingly be used as an erosion pin "or as a switch pin" for making contact between part 4 and a corresponding one in the other switch electrode. There

should be viewed.
For the application of the invention it is basically irrelevant whether gas flows with one or two outflow openings are used for the switch, because when choosing this, considerations about the most favorable ionization and removal of metal vapors are decisive, while in the invention the processes before the extinguishing of the Arc are detected and thereby a reduction in the resources to be used for extinguishing or an increase in the breaking capacity and the reverse voltage is achieved.
