is fed. Part of the output energy is also fed to a potentiometer 11 via a capacitor 14. This has a tap which is connected to a rectifier anode 8 via a capacitor 10.
A tube 2 (special tube) that does not serve as an amplifier is located parallel to tube 1. The anodes of tubes 1 and 2 are directly connected. The cathode of the tube 2 is connected to a point 7 of the resistor 5 inserted in the cathode line of the tube 1. The resistor inserted into the cathode circuit can be expediently changed by means of a contact 18. The resistor 5 is used to achieve a negative bias voltage for the grid of the tube 1.
The rectifier anode 8 is arranged in the tube 2. The rectified current flows through the resistor 9, one end of which is connected to the grid of the tube 2 and the other to the cathode of the tube 2. A chain conductor 15 is also provided, which can serve as a compensating device and for introducing a certain time constant.
The device works as follows:
In the case of a weak signal, only a small current flows through the resistor 9, so that the grid of the tubes 2 is slightly negative. The current flowing through this tube is high in this case and the voltage at the anodes of the two tubes is low. In addition, the voltage drop across the resistor 5 is high and thus the negative bias voltage on the grid of the tube 1 is also high. The gain of the tube 1 is low in this case.
EMI2.2
for example down to zero and the voltage at the anode of the tube 1 increases. The negative bias on the grid of the tube 1 decreases and the gain increases. In this way, the contrast between weak and strong signals is increased. The rectifier can also be attached individually instead of in the tube 2.
Pie contacts? 'And M can be moved appropriately. By means of the former, the change in the negative bias of the grid of the tube 1 in the event of a change in the signal strength can be adjusted. The second can be used to set the degree of effectiveness of the tube 2 and thus the intensity of the contrast. The latter contact can, if necessary, be mechanically coupled to the button used for volume control, whereby it can be achieved that the contrast effect is maintained or changes according to a certain law even when the tone is set to a small depth.
It is also advantageous to provide a filter 17 which is used to filter out the high audio frequencies from the energy extracted for regulating the tube 2. This has the advantage that the contrast effect is not influenced by interference (during radio reception) and needle noise (during gramophone playback). At the same time, if necessary, very low frequencies can also be filtered out or weakened so that the contrast effect is not influenced by the possible presence of particularly low tones in a specific piece of music.
If, as often happens, a low-frequency amplifier system is used, which is divided into several amplifiers connected in parallel, each of which is used to amplify a certain frequency range, the signals are appropriately split after amplification by tube 1. This is shown schematically in FIG. V is the amplifier stage, which contains the tubes 1 and 2, y to VA are the following amplifier stages. The one used to set the grid tension

3 shows a circuit with which the voltages of the amplifiers V2 and V3 can be rectified and fed to the grid of the tube 2. The tube contains two rectifier anodes and 8 'which are connected to the cathode via resistors 9 and 9'. Furthermore, two filters 15 and -M 'are provided to compensate for the rectified signal voltage. The grid is connected to points of these filters.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Low-frequency amplifier, characterized by a tube (special tube) that does not serve for amplification, the anode current of which is passed through a resistor located in the anode circuit of one of the amplifier tubes, and a rectifier that rectifies part of the output energy and feeds it to the grid circuit of the special tube, the device is made such that with an increase in the signal amplitude the anode current of the special tube decreases, whereby the mean voltage at the anode of the amplifier tube increases and the gain increases.
