Will man aber sogenannte Selbstvulkanisation, d. h.

Rubber adhesive.
In order to produce and store rubber in an adhesive and vulcanizable form, rubber solutions in gasoline, benzene, carbon tetrachloride and the like have been used up to now. By adding sulfur and possibly accelerators and activators, the rubber contained in the solution can be made vulcanizable. For self-vulcanization purposes, these components are divided into two solutions, so only by mixing the two solutions or combining the
Adhesive layers just before use the self-vulcanizing effect occurs. If these solutions are used for gluing, the solvent has to evaporate, which takes time. Furthermore, the
Solvents are often flammable and harmful to health. The solutions must also be transported in so-called fire trains.
Furthermore, when coated with a rubber solution, rubber sheets tend to curl or wrinkle, which makes work more difficult and often a smooth surface cannot be achieved.
There are also so-called repair stains, i.e. s. Sheets made of vulcanized rubber, which are already provided with rubber adhesive on one side and are used to repair damaged tubes or tires.
In these, the adhesive is firmly bonded to the vulcanized rubber sheet and can therefore no longer be removed in a usable state for other purposes. In the case of the repair stains, there is only the ability to be glued on one side and the usability of the same is consequently restricted to certain purposes.
All of these disadvantages are avoided by the invention. The invention uses a
Adhesive based on rubber, which consists of a dry, mutually adhesive, expediently vulcanizable rubber layer on a smooth backing, like strong
Textiles, preferably canvas, metal foils, plastic foils or appropriately impregnated
Paper and Like., exists. The adhesive layer with its carrier is expediently stored in roll form or stacked on top of one another cut into pieces, since in this way the free surface of the adhesive layer is protected from contamination and premature sticking by the back of the smooth strip.
By placing the rubberized smooth strip with the adhesive side on, for example, a rubber plate to be glued, the adhesive layer remains adhered to the rubber plate when the smooth strip is peeled off. In the same way, one or more adhesive layers, which can also be vulcanizable, can be applied one above the other.
The rubber layer can be applied by brushing on the coating machine, spraying, dipping, pressing on the calender, deposition in a known manner or otherwise. The gummed carrier is then rolled up on cardboard rolls and the rolled up webs are then preferably cut into narrow rolls.
The application of the adhesive to a rubber sheet to be glued, e.g. B. on a rubber hose to be repaired, happens in the following way: The part of the rubber hose to be repaired is cleaned and roughened as usual, then possibly wiped with gasoline. Then a piece of the gummed canvas is cut off the roll and pressed with the gummed side onto the glue point. When the carrier is peeled off, the adhesive layer adheres to the rubber hose surface. A prepared rubber patch, which has also been provided with an adhesive layer, is now placed on this adhesive layer. By combining the two adhesive layers, a firm adhesive bond is created. If the adhesive layers contain vulcanizing agents such as sulfur, accelerator, activator, etc., e.g.
B. Vulcanization by heating

the adhesive bond can be achieved. The vulcanization of the adhesive bond can also be brought about by cold means with chlorosulfur, in that the adhesive layers are moistened with a chlorine sulfur solution after application to the body to be bonded. However, this again has all the disadvantages as when working with wet rubber solutions and also results in products that are not very durable. But if you want so-called self-vulcanization, d. H.
To achieve vulcanization without special heating, one must distribute the vulcanizing agent on the two adhesive layers to be united with one another in such a way that at least one of the vulcanizing agents is missing in each of the two layers and only by bringing the two thin layers together a supplement to a self-
