   Es wurden bereits verschiedene Vorschläge erstattet, das Problem der automatischen Ver-   schweissung   umhüllter Metallelektroden ohne Unterbrechung des   Schweissvorganges   zu lösen. Es handelt sich darum, den Schweissstrom in der Nähe des Lichtbogens in den Schweissdraht einzuführen, um mit relativ grossen Stromdichten und daher relativ hohen Geschwindigkeiten arbeiten zu können, ohne das Elektrodenmaterial übermässig zu erhitzen. Dies würde der Fall sein, wenn der Schweissstrom ein relativ langes Stück des Schweissdrahtes   durchfliessen   müsste.

   Es sind Elektroden bekannt, die aus einem eingedrehten Flacheisen mit Zwischenschichten aus Umhüllungsmasse bestehen, wobei die Schmalseiten des Flacheisen an der Peripherie der Elektrode liegen und zur Stromzuführung verwendet werden. Bei diesen Elektroden liegt jedoch ein grosser Teil der   Metallmassen   in den äusseren Zonen der Elektrode, anstatt im Elektro denkern, und die Umhüllungsmasse schützt daher den Lichtbogen nicht vor Luftzutritt, sondern verursacht bloss   unerwünschte   Sehlaekenbildung, zumal auch im Elektrodenkern grosse Ansammlungen von   nichtverschweissbarer  
Substanz vorhanden sind. Die erfindungsgemässe Elektrode dagegen besteht im wesentlichen aus einem Elektrodenkern und einer gleichmässigen   Umhüllungsschutzschichte,   in die nur sehr wenig Metall eingebracht ist. 



   PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :
1. Umhüllte Elektrode für automatische Lichtbogenschweissung mit   schraubenförmig   auf den Elektrodenkern aufgewickelter metallischer Einlage, zwischen deren Windungen die Umhüllungsmasse untergebracht ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Form der metallischen Einlage so gewählt wird, dass der Übergang des   Schweissstromes   vom Stromzuführungsgerät zur Einlage oder der Übergang des   Schweissstromes   von der Einlage zum Elektrodenkern oder aber der Übergang an beiden Stellen   flächenförmig   ist.
