Rolling ring for the brake cylinders of pneumatic brakes.
The rolling rings for the pneumatic brake cylinders, which are usually made of rubber
Brakes are mostly made of strips or cords of circular cross-section, which are brought into a ring shape and the ends of which are cut off after an inclined surface are glued to one another, as illustrated in FIG. 1 of the drawing. The stress that the rolling rings experience during operation is mainly applied in the core 2 of the rolling ring and is planted along the inclined joint surface 1, as in. 3 indicated, proceeding towards the circumference of the ring. As a result, there is a progressive attrition of the rolling ring material in the zones, which leads to a loosening of the ends of the rolling ring.
According to the invention, the risk of the joint between the rolling ring ends is reduced in that one end of the strip forming the rolling ring is designed in the shape of a pin, while the other end is provided with a recess or a groove into which the pin fits. With this design of the joint, the attrition does not propagate against the circumference of the rolling ring, but in the direction of the pin axis, so that the connection at the joint is maintained as long as the strength in the outer parts of the rolling ring has not suffered any significant loss. The pin or the groove can have any shape, i. H. be shaped like any rotational body or have a wedge shape. Several such pins or
Recesses may be present or the joints can be designed in the manner of a toothing.
2 to 7 show three examples of different embodiments of the rolling ring connection according to the invention in view and cross section.
The design of the joint according to the invention can be used not only with massive rolling rings, but also with those rolling rings which are provided with cavities.
PATENT CLAIMS:
