guaranteed sucking air volumes, which also eliminates the risk of clogging due to swelling. An air pipe is then conveniently guided along the inside of the manifold,

by the device described.
In the example, the arrangement is advantageously such that the line does not lead from the free upper water level (1 to the free lower water level b, but from the turbine chamber c to the suction pipe d. The line itself consists of an inlet piece e, the adjoining one

is. The suction pipe g of the specified line is expediently gradually widened in the direction of flow, as a result of which a higher flow rate through the elbow and a better suction effect is achieved.
The mode of operation of the device is as follows: Before the turbine is started up, the water level in the turbine chamber is at the height of the head water level, that is to say approximately as shown in FIG. 1. Now the slide / is opened and there is a strong flow from the turbine

suction pipe d. When flowing through the manifold f, negative pressure arises on its inside, so that through the small openings; Air is sucked in and carried away by the flowing water. However, since the openings A with the end piece i of the line 1, 'and thereby with the highest

thereby a constant, albeit very small, loss of water during operation through the line k acting as a siphon, the openings h and the suction pipe g.
If a centrifugal pump, the housing of which is wholly or partially above the supply level, i.e. this time the underwater level and is initially closed off from the headwater, is to be vented and filled with water before commissioning, a line with a bend between the Druc1 . The pipe must be attached above the housing closure element and the suction pipe or underwater. The elbow interior of this line is again connected to the highest point of the pump spiral housing by an air line and will therefore, when the flow from the upper water to the lower water is released through the elbow, the air out of the spiral housing and suck up the water level in it.
As soon as the pump spiral housing is completely filled, the pump can be put into operation and the aforementioned flow line shut off again.
The case is quite the same for raid brigades that act as jacks and similar facilities. so that a detailed description is not necessary.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Suction device for venting turbine chambers located above the head water level for the purpose of starting up the turbine or for venting similar chambers in overflow weirs, pumps, etc. The like., characterized in that a line consisting of inlet, elbow and suction pipe is formed between the upper and lower water, on the inside of the elbow there is a cavity which is connected on the one hand to the elbow channel space through suction openings and on the other hand to the chamber to be vented.
