Fig. 1 zeigt eine Seitenansicht derselben. Fig. 2 ist eine Stirnansicht der Maschine.

Machine for the production of boxes and similar packaging.
The invention relates to a machine for the production of boxes and. like., e.g. B. for the packaging of cigarettes, in particular the inner shell of sliding boxes, which are made from a work piece of cardboard or stiff paper by a piston that pushes the work piece through a device to fold it together with this and the thus folded work piece into a to introduce moving subject. In order to increase the efficiency of the machine significantly, according to the invention, pins are provided which are carried by a controlled slide (rod) and which, as soon as a compartment under the piston has been brought into working position, are brought up through openings in the bottom of the compartment and serve to support the work piece against the lower surface of the piston.
The pins, which are expediently supported by springs, then follow the piston until it has reached the bottom of the compartment. Two opposing walls of the box are brought into engagement under hooks arranged on the compartment walls as a result of their resilience, so that the box is reliably retained in the compartment when the piston goes up.
For example, the machine is shown in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows a side view of the same. Figure 2 is an end view of the machine. Fig. 3 shows a plan view of a work piece and Fig. 4 is a view of a partially folded work piece ready to receive cigarettes.
The work piece a of an inner hemisphere is provided with notches 1 along which the side flaps 2 are bent upwards. Furthermore, the work piece has notches 3, 4 and 5, 6, along which the end tabs 7 and 8 are folded over the box folded so far. The work pieces a are stored in a container 9 attached to the frame A of the machine, u. between. The stack is carried by strips 10, pins or similar projections. A tube or hollow head piece 11 provided with openings at the top and closed at one end is connected by a hose 12 to a tube 1, 3x connected to a suction pump 13.
The tube 11 is carried by an arm 15 which is seated swingably on a pin 14 and is connected to a two-armed lever 17 by a handlebar 16. The lever 17 sits swingably on a pin and is below
EMI1.1
After the tube 11 has been moved upwards by the thumb disk and the lever, a vacuum is created in the tube 11 by the pump 13 so that the tube grips the front end of the lowest work piece in the container 9 and downwards during the subsequent downward movement moves as shown in dotted lines in FIG.
A slide 23 sliding in a guide 24 carries a pair of tongs 25 (FIG. 3) by means of which the work piece moved downwards through the suction tube is grasped. During the backward movement of the tongs 25, the workpiece is brought below a piston 26 which can move up and down. The pliers 25 can be of conventional design, according to which the swingable leg 34 under the action of a spring is opened at the end of the working stroke by a fixed stop 35 and is locked in this position by a latch 36 or the like, which when the pliers move against the Work piece is triggered by a stop 37, so that under the action of a spring the leg 34 grips the next box work piece.

The slide 23 is moved back and forth by an arm 27 which is seated swingably on the shaft 20 and is connected to the slide by a link 28. The arm 27 is under the action of an eccentric on the shaft 18, the rod 30 of which is connected to the arm 27.
The main or camshaft. M of the machine can be driven, for example, by a non-illustrated electric motor. 46 is a chain carried by sprockets 45 (one of which is visible in the drawing), which chain is provided with compartments 47 for receiving the boxes. The chain 46 is advanced step by step from the shaft 18 by means of a gear train. The compartments 47 come one after the other with the step-by-step movement of the chain 46 in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 1 below a piston 26. The latter is, as FIG. 2 shows, attached to a rod or slide 48 which is guided in guides on the frame of the machine is movable and stands on the shaft 18 under the action of a thumb disk. This thumb disk influences a lever arm 50, 51 which is pivotably mounted on the shaft 20.
In the bottom of each compartment 47 are several, for. B. four openings are provided through which four pins 52 are moved upwards when the compartment is under the piston 26. The pins 52 are carried by a vertically movable slide and support the work piece a lying under the piston, which they hold together with the piston, as shown in FIG. 2 in dotted lines. The piston 26 and the workpiece urged against it by the pins 52 move downward into the compartment. During this movement, the side tabs 2, 2 and the end tabs 7 are bent upwards by a U-shaped folding frame 54 or the like. The flap 8 of the box on the right, however, remains in the flat position until the box has been filled with cigarettes.
When the piston 26 is moved upwards after the work piece has been folded and inserted into the compartment, the box is held in place by two opposing hook-shaped walls 47x of the compartment, in which walls the outwardly resilient walls of the box engage. The pins 52 are carried by a head 55 and are expediently arranged so as to be slidable in this under the action of springs 56, so that the pins resiliently press the workpiece against the piston 26. The head 55 is attached to a slide which, like the rod 48, is under the action of a thumb disk on the shaft 18.
The inner box located in the compartment 47 and produced in this way is then filled with cigarettes during the displacement of the compartment chain and closed and finally introduced into an outer box by devices which are not described because they do not belong to the present invention.
