<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
B. C*i, beispielsweise in die punktiert angedeutete Lage, verlegt.

Circuit arrangement for electrical time base circuits or wave generation systems.
The present invention relates to electrical time base circuits and systems for generating potential waves of the type known as "capacitor relaxation circuits".
In the circuits or systems of the conventional arrangement, a control capacitor is connected via an impedance to a continuous voltage source, so that it is charged at a rate regulated by the aforementioned impedance. Here is an unloading device. connected directly across the capacitor, arranged to cause a sudden temporary discharge of the capacitor. In another embodiment, the capacitor is connected via the aforementioned impedance instead of via the discharge device, so that it is discharged at a rate controlled by the aforementioned impedance and is suddenly temporarily charged.
In both cases, the capacitor is alternately charged and discharged, with the change in charge in one direction being controlled to produce a continuously changing potential having a desired characteristic, while the change in charge in the other direction is sudden Restoring the state of charge of the capacitor to a predetermined value consists. The impedance which controls the speed of the charge exchange in one direction in order to produce a changing potential of a desired characteristic is expediently referred to in the following as the charging device. The device by which the charge of the capacitor is suddenly brought to a predetermined value at intervals will be called a discharge device.
It is easy to see that when the above-described embodiment is used, the charging device can have the effect of reducing the actual charge on the capacitor, while the discharging device can have the effect of increasing the charge on the capacitor.
The type of circuit or system to which the present invention relates are used in conjunction with electric cathode ray tubes for inducing tent base deflection or for controlling electric scanners in television systems. In these applications, considerable difficulties have arisen because the unloader does not operate with sufficient speed and accuracy. The unloading device in most

border. Due to the somewhat irregular mode of operation of the gas-filled discharge tube, the exact operation of the system is always associated with difficulties. Furthermore, the operation of a gas-filled tube tends to be disturbed when it, such as.
B. in certain applications on television systems, is required to discharge in different time periods.
It has already been proposed to solve these difficulties by setting two hard electron tubes (i.e. tubes which mainly have pure electron discharge) for the gas-filled tubes mentioned above. In this system, a grid-controlled electron tube for discharging the control capacitor was connected through a resistor in its anode circuit to a second electron tube, which was switched back to the control grid of the first tube, so that the flow of the anode current in the first tube charged the potential in the control grid the same caused to cause a rapid discharge of the control capacitor.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the present invention relates to a discharge system using hard electron tubes, whose operation is better satisfied and which are able to
Control capacitor to discharge suddenly than the known arrangements described above.
The present invention comprises an arrangement in which a hard electron tube for discharging the control capacitor is connected to a second electron tube with the aid of a resistor in its anode circuit, which is switched back to the grid of the first tube with the aid of an impedance in its anode circuit, so that a The amplification of the anode current in the first tube causes a gradual increase in the potential in the grid of the same, and is characterized in that the holding resistance or the impedance in the anode circuit of each of the two tubes mentioned between the anode of this tube and the positive pole of the continuous voltage source for this with the anode of each tube connected to the grid of the other.
According to a further feature of the invention, the cathode of the first tube is connected to that pole of the regulating capacitor to which the discharge device is connected in order to be able to supply the anode circuit of the second tube from the same continuous voltage source that is used for charging the regulating capacitor. The anode of the first tube is connected to the positive pole of the continuous voltage source via the resistor in the anode circuit of this tube. The preferred arrangement according to the invention, which includes the above-mentioned feature, comprises a tube which has its anode connected via a resistor to the positive pole of the voltage source and its cathode connected via the charging device to the negative pole of said voltage source.
A second electron tube has its cathode connected to the negative pole of the aforementioned voltage source and its anode via a resistor to the positive pole of the aforementioned voltage source and has a control grid which is connected to a point of fixed potential via a grid resistor. A direct current connection is provided between the anode of the second tube and the grid of the first tube and a connection via a direct-current discharge capacitor between the anode of the first tube and the control grid of the second tube, the time constant of said discharge capacitor and the grid resistance being selected in this way is that the control grid of the second tube remains negatively charged almost until the end of the discharge of the control capacitance.
The invention is described below with reference to the drawings, which in FIG. 1 shows a schematic diagram of the preferred arrangement of the subject matter of the invention for controlling a cathode ray tube for checking waveforms and in FIG. 2 a modification of this arrangement.
In FIG. 1, a known circuit for rectifying alternating currents is shown on the left, while the deflection plates of a cathode ray tube CRO are indicated on the right. The voltage on one of these electrodes, e.g. B. the plate Px, is supplied by a control capacitance selected from the capacities Ci-C. If very high-frequency work is required, stray capacitances can be used instead of the capacitors Cy-C.
The selected control capacitance is alternately charged and discharged in the manner described below, causing the cathode ray beam to move about on the screen.
EMI2.1
Screen grid tube P1, charged with four or five electrodes, which is in series with the capacitance to be charged and has a screen, the potential of which can be regulated by a voltage divider R4. The control grid is coupled to the cathode which is connected to the negative terminal of the supply. This arrangement is preferred, but the control grid can be used in the normal manner instead of the screen grid.
The discharge of the capacitor is caused by the three-electrode tube Ti in conjunction with the four- or five-electrode tube P2 provided with a screen, and the like. The tube T1 is connected in parallel to the capacitor to be discharged via a resistor and the anode of the tube P2 is connected to the grid of the tube Ti. The control grid of the tube P2 is connected to its cathode through a resistor R and the anode resistance R2 is set so that the control grid of the tube Ti normally has a high negative bias.
In a state of rest, which naturally does not last, d. H. when the control capacitance is discharged, the grid of the three-electrode tube Ti has a strongly negative value due to the strong current flowing in the anode circuit of the five-electrode tube P2. The control capacity, e.g. B. Cb then charges it at a rate which depends on the anode current of the tube P until the cathode of the three-electrode tube T reaches a sufficiently low value to allow anode current to pass through.
The resulting voltage change at the terminals of the resistor Ru is communicated to the control grid of the tube P2 via a capacitor C, with the result that the control grid of P2 becomes negative, thereby weakening the anode current of P2 and making the grid of the tube Tj more positive . The resulting further increase in the anode current of T intensifies the voltage drop across the grid of the tube P2, so that the effect increases and the grid of Ti quickly reaches a positive value with respect to its cathode. Accordingly, the anode current of the tube Ti quickly reaches a high value, so that the control capacitance is quickly discharged.
The time constant of the circuit CR is chosen so that the control grid of the tube P2 almost to the end of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Discharge of the control capacity remains negative. When the control capacitance is discharged, however, the anode voltage of the tube T1 rises with the result that the voltage of the grid of the tube P2 is driven back to zero and the grid of the tube? \ becomes strongly negative and thus re-establishes the circuit for the next work sequence.
If this arrangement is preferred, it should be noted that if desired the arrangement can be reversed by changing the position of the capacitors with respect to the capacitor to be charged and discharged, e.g. B. C * i, for example in the position indicated by dotted lines, relocated. As a result, the capacitor is suddenly charged through the two tubes Ti and P2 and relatively slowly through the tube? i discharged.
In the anode circuit of the tube Ti is the resistor, which has the above-described effect of allowing a voltage to pass through the time constant circuit CR and thus to the grid of the tube P2, and the like. between the moment in which the anode current begins in T1. This resistor R1 is preferably adjustable, since the rate of discharge of the control capacitance can be changed by changing the value of this resistor. The lower the value of the resistor R i, the greater the rate at which the control capacitance is discharged.
On the other hand, the higher the value of the resistor R1. the faster the discharge current will reach its maximum value and the more suddenly it will be cut off at the end of the discharge period. The resistor R2 should be adjusted to determine the passage of the time base.
The maximum value to which the anode current of the tube T1 increases during the discharge of the control capacitance is limited by the fact that the flow of the grid current in the tube leads to a voltage drop between the terminals of the resistor R2. If one wants to achieve a faster discharge of the control capacitance than is possible with the arrangement according to FIG. 1, the arrangement according to FIG. 2 can be used. Here the resistor R2 is replaced by a hot cathode tube V, the anode of which is connected to the positive pole of the voltage source and the cathode to the control
EMI3.1
The control electrode of the tube V is directly connected to the anode of the tube P2.
With this arrangement, the anode current is exercised during the charging of the control capacitor
Tube P2 has an effect on the bias of the grid of tube V when it passes through the resistor Rv. This makes the impedance of the tube V high so that the grid of the tube T is normally biased to a high negative value. If the anode current in the tube Ti increases slightly, the anode current in the tube P2 is reduced and an increasing voltage increase occurs at the grid of the tube Ti in the manner described with reference to FIG.
As a result of
Arrangement of the tube V, however, leads to a reduction in the anode current of the tube P2 to a reduction in the voltage drop at the terminals of the resistor Rv and, accordingly, to a reduction in the impedance of the tube V. The voltage rise at the grid of the tube T1 is consequently accelerated. In addition, the limiting effect of the grid current in the tube T1 on the discharge speed of the control capacitance is brought to a minimum as a result of the reduced impedance of the tube V. As a result, the discharge current grows to a higher maximum value than it would if the impedance of the connection between the positive voltage point and the control grid of the tube TA remained at the normal value during the discharge of the control capacitor.
By adjusting the resistance Rv, the normal bias voltage on the grid of the tube V and thus the normal impedance of the tube can be changed. This leads to a change in the normal grid bias of the tube and thus changes the amplitude of the passage of the
Time base.
The grid of the tube Pj is connected to a tap of the voltage divider R4, and this regulates the anode current of the tube Pi and thus the speed of the passage of the time base.
The shaft to be tested is pressed onto terminals W, and W2. Of these terminals is WI

occurs so that the individual lines overlap. By appropriately setting the
Resistance R2 apparently adjust the amplitude of the time base loop so that the frequency of the synchronizing wave results as a factor that is added to the frequency of the synchronizing wave. Even though the value of the resistor R2 does not determine the exact amplitude of the time base cycle when a synchronization signal is used, it selects a specific one from a number of possible amplitudes at which the discharge can be given for any given frequency and amplitude of the synchronization signal.
The ability to amplify the synchronization signal allows perfect synchronization to be maintained even when the amplitude of the waveform under test is very small. Since this gain does not affect the wave applied to the electrode S of the cathode ray tube, the possibility of distortion due to the gain necessary for synchronization is avoided.
In the arrangement described, a small amount of energy is supplied to the potentiometer ssg from the circuit under test and an appropriate part of it is applied to the grid of the three-electrode tube T2, thereby changing its conductivity and the potential applied to the screen grid of the tube P2. Even if this arrangement is preferred, it should be noted that the synchronization signal can optionally also be applied directly to the control grid or screen grid of P2 instead of to the control grid of T2. It can also be fed directly to the tube T 1.
With the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the positive peaks of the wave under test cause a decrease in the impedance of the three-electrode tube T2 and consequently a decrease in the screen grid voltage of the tube P2, which leads to an increase in the grid voltage of the discharge tube T1.
To allow the image to be centered on the cathode ray tube screen, two voltage dividers Q1 and Q2 are placed in parallel between the arms of the high voltage lead and the taps are connected to suitable baffles, namely Pys, Pxs. So that the tension on the
