Process for the production of an invisible impregnation for making water repellent
Artificial stone, plaster, stucco, wood or the like.

The aim of the invention is to make the above-mentioned objects water-repellent against precipitation moisture by means of an architecturally invisible impregnation using a thin liquid solution of nitrocellulose or celluloid in ether, acetone, amyl acetate or similar solvents.

So far, one sought to achieve this goal by adding to the mortar masses of z. B. chlorine zinc, chloromagnesia, soaps or the like. Or by producing a coherent, preferably non-porous coating of various kinds. According to British Patent No. 326940, a rubber-cellulose solution or emulsion with various additives is used to paint building materials. The present invention does not cause the water repellency by forming a coherent, superficial coating, but by impregnation, penetration into the pores of the object, which narrows the penetrated preparation after drying, but not completely closes, so that z.

   B. Although a wall facade treated in this way is water-repellent due to the abolition of its absorbency, it is neither airtight nor gastight as is made by other paints.

This pore narrowing without simultaneous formation of a coherent coating is achieved by painting, spraying or dipping in the cold state using the pre-described nitrocellulose or celluloid solution in very volatile solvents, the concentration of this solution depending on the nature of the substance to be impregnated 0-5-5% of cellulose or Celluloid amounts.

Except for the solvents used, this preparation is chemically unchangeable, cannot be washed out and architecturally invisible. A desired tint is possible by adding suitable dyes.
