Rotary brush.
Rotary brushes are known which are composed of ring-shaped brush elements whose bristles are held together at the inner ends by glued or cemented ring washers made of paper, fabric or other flexible material and possibly also by a circular seam. According to the invention, such pliable annular brush elements are clamped between two disks, which are provided with annular elevations and depressions of rectangular cross-section on their mutually facing surfaces so that each elevation of one disk is opposite a depression of the other disk. If brush elements are not inserted between the disks, annular spaces with a meandering cross section are free between the disks.
When the brush is assembled, the brush elements press themselves into this thanks to their flexibility, so that the bristles cannot fly out of the brush due to the centrifugal force even at the highest speeds of the brush.
Fig. 1 of the drawing is a section through a brush according to the invention. Fig. 2 shows the right and left halves of the two press disks in a view from the inside. FIGS. 3 and 4 explain the method for manufacturing the brush elements.
The ring-shaped brush elements 1 and the disks 3, 4 are pushed onto the bush 2. This is provided on one side with a flange 2a and on the other side with a thread on which the nut 5 sits. This allows the disk 4 to be moved axially towards the disk 3.
The disks are provided with annular elevations, yes, 4a and annular depressions: Jb, 4b, in order to hold the brush elements 1 securely. The disc. 3 sits with a hexagonal recess on a hexagon 2b of the sleeve 2.
During the manufacture of the brush elements, bristles, fibers, wires or the like of a length corresponding to the radial dimension of the brush to be manufactured are placed side by side and connected to one another by at least one seam la (Fig. 3), whereupon the resulting strip is bent into a flat circular ring and this is coated in the middle part with glue or putty, if necessary sprinkled with sand and finally provided with one or two annular disks 1b made of paper, fabric or the like (Fig. 4).
