Metallpackung.

Metal packing.
The invention according to your parent patent no. 99127 relates to a metal pack, which consists of sealing rings in chamber rings, but freely movable, slotted or multi-part sealing rings, u. One of the variants consists in that in order to avoid the rings tearing open by spring force without using steam pressure, two or more superimposed, all inwardly resilient overshoot rings are used with their ends offset against each other by approximately 180.
It happens now. that stuffing boxes with very low packing spaces are available and therefore the use of two clamping rings offset by 1800 and also a slotted or multi-part die ring located in the same and running on the rod is not feasible. It will therefore be indicated in this case. In order to save on the overall height of the entire die ring element, while still preventing the rings from tearing open by the gas pressure to be sealed, one of the two inwardly resilient clamping rings used runs directly onto the rod without the interposition of the slotted or multi-part sealing ring to let.
However, in order to prevent the steam from passing through this clamping ring, which is now lying directly on the rod, which is slotted for the purpose of its internal springiness and gapes at the Selhlitz point, the same (similar to the sealing rings shown in the parent patent) is axially divided into two halves each also springs inward, and the butt joints of these two rings, which are covered by a wide, common, inwardly resilient tension ring, are slightly offset from one another. Storage is therefore fully adhered to. so that a passage of steam

The outer clamping ring placed on top of this closes these two butt joints of the inner clamping rings.
This ensures that this ring combination is effectively prevented from tearing open, while the omission of the inner sealing rings with a smaller radial overall height makes it possible.
In Fig, 1, 2 and 3, an embodiment of such a pack is shown, u. between

drawn, are moderately offset from one another and have exactly the same width as the overlying common clamping ring C, which is offset by approximately] 80 against the two inner clamping rings and therefore tightly closes the butt joints of the two inner rings. A passage of the steam through the butt joint of the inner rings is prevented by moving the two.
EMI1.3
It is noted that stuffing box packings are known in which in the chamber rings there are two adjacent, slotted metal liner rings, which are tightly ground into the chamber ring dam jf and lie against the piston rod. whose butt joints are tightly closed by an inwardly tensioning leaf spring. In these known packs, however, there is no security against tearing open the eyelid rings, because it is not specified that the ring pin is in the manner of the parent patent
