Belt buckle.
The invention relates to such belt buckles in which a plate is fixedly or articulated on the buckle frame, which on the one hand carries a clamping lever for the fixed belt or belt end and on the other hand is designed as a loop through for the free belt end. In the known buckles of this type, the through loop is formed in that the plate has been provided with a transverse slot on its part facing away from the buckle frame. In this training, the loop lies completely in the plane of the buckle, which brings about various deficiencies. First of all, the introduction of the belt end into the loop is made more difficult because the free belt end has to be forced through between the fixed belt end clamped to the underside of the plate and the web of the plate which forms the outer edge of the loop.
If the belt or belt is very thick, then. it is often quite impossible to insert the free end of the strap into the loop. Furthermore, the buckle or at least the plate hinged to the buckle frame is pressed off the body by the strap end inserted into the loop, so that the tendon is poorly seated, which impairs the good appearance of the belt. To avoid these deficiencies, it is already known not to form the push-through loop by slitting the plate carrying the clamping lever, but by attaching a special U-shaped sheet metal bracket to the plate. However, this device makes the buckle more expensive.
In the belt buckle forming the subject of the invention, the deficiencies described are eliminated in a particularly simple and expedient manner. As before, the through loop is formed directly by the clamping plate provided with a transverse slot. In this case, however, the transverse web of the clamping plate which forms the outer edge of the loop is bent forward out of the plane of the plate, so that it lies in a different plane than the plate. This is achieved in that the crossbar is lengthened accordingly by pulling and then pressed or bent into the shape of a U-shaped bracket.
With this new design, the introduction of the free end of the belt into the push-through loop is no longer difficult, since there is sufficient space between the fixed end of the belt and the outer edge of the loop for the free end of the belt to be pushed through. Furthermore, the buckle or the clamping plate is no longer pressed off the body, so that a good fit of the buckle is ensured.
In the drawing, two embodiments of the subject invention are shown, u. Fig. 1 shows a front view of the new buckle according to the first example, Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 shows a view of the left end of the buckle in Figs. 1 and 2, 4 shows a front view of the buckle according to the second example, FIG. 5 shows a longitudinal section along the line 5-5 in FIG. 4, FIG. 6 shows a view of the end of the buckle on the left in FIGS. a is the buckle frame, pressed either from wire or from sheet metal, on whose web al a mandrel c is supported. A sheet metal plate d is articulated to the frame a in that its end facing the frame and provided with a slot for the passage of the bearing eyes of the dome c is rolled around the frame web a1.
The plate d serves on the one hand to attach the fixed end of the belt, for which purpose a known type of clamping lever f consisting of an angularly bent sheet metal strip is supported in its rearwardly bent longitudinal edges dl and which can be toothed at its clamping edge. The plate d is also designed as a push-through loop for the free end of the belt. For this purpose it is provided on its part facing away from the clasp frame a with a transverse slot g, the length of which is at least equal to or slightly greater than the width of the strap to be used in connection with the buckle.
In contrast to known similar buckles, where the

The web h lying on the outside of the slot g lies in the plane of the plate d and is at most slightly curved in its width direction, the web h is now out of the new buckle according to the invention
EMI2.1
elongated and then pressed into the shape of a U-shaped bracket, the side parts of which are equal to the bent longitudinal edges dl of the plate d transversely to the plate plane, while the middle part is parallel to plate d, but in a different plane than this. As can be seen, a push-through loop is thereby formed on the buckle, into which the free end of the strap can be easily inserted.
The stretching or lengthening of the web h is best done before the plate d is punched out of the strip of material used for its production. It can be proceeded in such a way that first two incisions forming the longitudinal edges of the web h are made in the material strip and then the web still sitting with its ends on the material strip is stretched and lengthened by multiple pulling, whereupon the complete punching of the plate d with Web h and the bending of the longitudinal edges of the plate d as well as the bending of the stretched web h are effected into the bow shape.
The example according to FIGS. 4-6 differs from that according to FIGS. 1-3 in that the plate d, designed as a push-through loop and carrying the clamping lever, is firmly attached to the buckle frame a. The plate d consists of a single piece with the frame a, which is also made of sheet metal, the eye of the mandrel c reaching through a hole b in the plate d. The design of the push-through loop is the same as in the first example. The web h lying on the outside of the slot g is elongated by pulling and bent or pressed into the shape of a D-bracket.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the example shown, but modifications of the same as well as other designs are possible. Thus, the mandrel c could also be replaced by a clamping web or the like guided displaceably on the longitudinal strips of the frame a.
