beds; then only the coupling between the pump and auxiliary synchronization machine needs to be released and the coupling between generator and pump closed. The generator then drives the pump as a motor. If, on the other hand, the turbine and the generator are shut down and the pump is to be driven by the generator as a motor instead of the auxiliary synchronous motor for a greater delivery head, the coupling between the pump and auxiliary motor is released after starting the turbine and connecting the generator in parallel to the network Coupling between generator and pump closed.
The auxiliary motor now runs idly again as a phase shifter.
Under certain circumstances it can be useful to permanently connect the two synchronous machines to one another and to the pump by rigid or flexible couplings, whereby only one synchronous machine is in electrical operation, while the second is used to increase the flywheel mass of the machine set.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1.Machine set for peak power plants, consisting of at least one turbine, at least one synchronous machine driven by this and at least one pump, the synchronous machine being driven by the turbine as a generator and being able to drive the pump when fed from the network as a motor, characterized in that an additional (auxiliary) synchronous machine is provided, which can be coupled to the shaft of the machine set and also used to drive the pump, and whose number of poles is different from that of the other synchronous machines, so that for motor operation at a given Network frequency with two,
Depending on the number of poles of the machines, the operation is carried out at different speeds, so that better utilization of the turbines or pumps can be achieved with changing water gradients.
