Method for moving clamps of known type on electrodes in electric furnaces.
When operating electrical, electrode-equipped furnaces, the loss of electrode length caused by burn-up is compensated for by lowering the electrode. In the process, the holder, which transmits the winding force, and therefore the regulating movement, to the electrode gradually comes closer to the end of the electrode located in the furnace. In order to restore a sufficient distance of the same from the socket, this is shifted along the permanent electrode at certain time intervals. This is done according to the previously known method by reducing the contact pressure of the contact plates, the electrode sliding through the holder under its own weight. Unless you have expensive facilities, e.g.
B. pneumatic or hydraulic type, which allow a reduction of the contact pressure during furnace operation, want to apply, this type of displacement of the socket on the electrode is only possible when the furnace is switched off or partially relieved, which is perceived as a serious disadvantage.
The present invention enables the holder to be displaced on the electrode with simple aids without switching off or relieving the furnace by pulling the current-carrying electrode holder up against a force that holds the electrode in place without any significant reduction in the contact pressure.
Holding the electrode in place while pulling up the socket can be accomplished in various ways. It is z. B. between the ceiling of the room and the upper end of the electrode clamped a suitable bolt, which prevents the coal from rising, or it is z. B. the coal through chains u. Like. Which are placed over the upper end, held down.
A device used to carry out the method according to the invention is shown in the drawing
EMI1.1
Electrode holder and 4 the associated cable for the winch. A suitable bolt 6 is located below the ceiling 5. The clamping pressure of the holder. 3 is so strong that the electrode is reliably protected from accidentally slipping through.
With this device, the process is carried out in the following way: If the piece of the electrode under the socket has become too short due to burn-off, a suitable bolt 6 is clamped between the cover 5 and the electrode: 2, then the electrode holder. ? Pulled upwards by the cable 4 without any significant change in the contact pressure and then the bolt 6 is removed again. This process is repeated as often as the burn-off necessitates an extension of the electrode end protruding downward from the holder.
The present method ensures that the electrode does not change its position in the furnace while the holder is being displaced and the current can be continuously supplied without hindrance, as a result of which the furnace operation is completely continuous.
