Gelenk.

Joint.
The invention relates to a joint which is suitable for the movable attachment of two bodies.
The joint according to the invention is characterized by two parts, which each form a part of a spherical surface with approximately the same radius and can be rotated around intersecting axes passing through the center of the spherical surface or in its immediate vicinity. The parts are further provided with slots, the center line of which lies in one plane with the associated axis of rotation and in which a common body is displaceably arranged. Such joints can preferably be used in incandescent lamp fittings in which they are arranged between the base plate and the actual lamp socket.
According to the preferred embodiment for this application, both spherical parts are hinged to the base plate, while the displaceable body carries the socket.
The advantage of this joint in fittings is that the power supply wire cannot twist and that there is greater freedom of movement compared to the known joints.
In the drawing, an example embodiment of the joint according to the invention is shown.
Fig. 1 is a view of a fitting employing a hinge according to the invention: Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the hinge shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 is a plan view of this hinge.
In the figures, a joint provided with two parts 1 and 2 is shown, which parts each form a part of a spherical surface or a similar surface. Part 1 is rotatably mounted at 3 and J and part 2 at 5 and 6. The axis of rotation of part 1 passing through: and runs perpendicular to the axis of rotation of part 2 passing through 5 and 6, the point of intersection of the two axes of rotation being in the center of the common spherical surface. The two parts 1 and 2 are each provided with a slot 7, the longitudinal center line of which lies in one plane with the associated axis of rotation, or 5, 6).
A hollow shaft is passed through the slots 7 at the point of intersection of the two parts 1 and 2, which is provided with a flange 9 and a wing nut 10, with which the axis 8

which the fitting can be attached to a wall if desired, and the actual lamp holder. The latter can be attached to the hollow shaft 8. The base plate 11 has an opening. M provided. The lead wires can be passed through this opening and further through the hollow shaft 8 to the lamp socket. A frame 12 is also provided to which a screen, cap or other decoration can be attached.
