EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Switching device for X-ray tubes with two or more cathodes to produce focal spots of different sizes.
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In order to make it clear to the person operating the system that the larger focal point used for the X-ray exposure is automatically switched on, a signal lamp is expediently used which lights up when it is switched on or off. According to the invention is in the circuit of the signal lamp, for. B. a glow lamp, a winding that is induced by a winding of the relay. This has the particular advantage that the heating current ammeter with the relay and the signal lamp can be accommodated in a radiation-proof housing that is connected to the high-voltage circuit in place of the previous ammeter.
In the drawing, two embodiments of the switching device according to the invention are shown.
Fig. 1 shows visual lines for the loading of the focal point. FIG. 2 schematically shows an embodiment of the device and FIG. 3 shows the circuit diagram of another embodiment.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, a smaller focal spot 3 can be generated on the anode 1 by means of the hot cathode 2 and a larger focal spot 5 can be generated by the hot cathode 4. The secondary winding of a high voltage transformer 6 is in the usual way on the secondary winding of the filament transformer? and is connected by a line 8 to the common supply line 9 of the glow cathodes 2 and 4.
The other end of the secondary coil of the filament transformer 7 is connected by a line 10 to a bimetallic strip 11 which, when cold, rests against a contact piece 22 which is connected to the other end of the hot cathode 2 by a line 13.
Opposite the bimetal strip 11 is the contact piece 14, which is placed through a line 15 to the other end of the hot cathode 4 at a distance. A manually operable regulating resistor 16 is placed in the circuit of the primary coil of the heating transformer 7.
In the case of fluoroscopy, the bimetal strip 11 rests against the contact piece 22 and the contact of the resistor 16 has the position shown in solid lines. The hot cathode 2, which generates the smaller focal spot 5 on the anode 1, is therefore switched on.
If the doctor now wants to move from fluoroscopy to X-ray exposure, he only needs to move the contact of the resistor 16 so that the resistor is further switched off, the contact z. B. reaches the position shown with dashed lines. By increasing the heating current strength, the bimetallic strip 11 becomes warm and bends so that it lifts off the contact piece 12 and comes into contact with the contact piece 14. As a result, the glow cathode 2, which was used for fluoroscopy, is switched off and the glow cathode 4 is switched on, through which the larger focal spot 5 is generated.
The viewing line 2 in Fig. 1 illustrates the tube current intensity i as a function of the tube heating current J for the fluoroscopic cathode 2 and the viewing line 4 for the receiving cathode 4. The smaller focal spot 3, for example, has its highest load capacity at point a of the viewing line 2. The relationships are now as follows set that, if the heating current strength is increased by switching off the resistor 16, the automatic switching takes place by means of the bimetal strip 11 at point a of the viewing line 2. The current therefore drops down to point b of the viewing line 4 for the larger focal spot 5, whereupon the tube current is brought to the value required for recording by further increasing the heating current.
This avoids overloading the smaller focal spot 3 and thus damaging the anode 1, thus increasing the operational reliability of the X-ray system, since the switchover is no longer dependent on the particular attention of the person operating the system.
To switch over during the transition from fluoroscopy to X-ray exposure, only the resistor 16 needs to be operated, so that the transition from fluoroscopy to exposure also takes place without any loss of time. Since this resistance is in the low-voltage circuit, the operator no longer needs to come into contact with the high-voltage part of the system for the purpose of switching.
In the embodiment of the device according to FIG. 3, a tube 17 is also used which has two hot cathodes 2, 4 for fluoroscopy and X-ray imaging, and in which the smaller focal spot 3 and the larger focal spot 5 are generated on the anode 1 by switching can. As in the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the resistor 16 is placed in the primary circuit of the heating transformer 7.
The secondary winding of the heating transformer 7 is connected by a line 18 to the common supply line 9 of the two hot cathodes, while the other ends of the hot cathodes are connected by lines 13, 15 to the contact pieces 12, 14 of the switch. With the contact pieces 12, 14, a contact lever 22 cooperates,
The other end of the secondary winding is connected by a line 19 aii-the contact lever 11, u. between the heating current ammeter 20 being switched on. A contact piece 21 is attached to the ammeter in a cam slot 22 so that it can be adjusted and locked.
This contact piece is connected to one end of a solenoid 24 by a line 23, the other end of which is led through a line 25 to the line 18. The switching lever 11 is influenced by the iron core of the solenoid 24. The pointer 26 of the ammeter 20 is with. a contact piece 27 is provided, in whose path the contact piece 21 lies.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Furthermore, the solenoid 24 induces a winding 28 which is located in the circuit of a glow lamp 29.
During the transition from fluoroscopy to image recording, the contact piece 27 comes into contact with the contact 21 at the point ader viewing line 2 (FIG. 1), whereby the solenoid 24 is switched on, through which the switching lever 11 is removed from the contact piece. 12 is lifted off and brought into contact with the contact piece 14. As a result, the larger focal spot 5 is switched on for the image recording. At the moment of switching, the glow lamp 29 also lights up, since a voltage is induced in the winding 28 when the current passes through the solenoid 24.
In this exemplary embodiment too, the switchover takes place automatically and the person operating the system can recognize from the glow lamp 29 lighting up that the switchover to the larger focal spot J has taken place.
This device can be adapted to the various voltage curves by setting the contact piece 21 on the ammeter 20 in the curve slot 22 so that the switchover takes place when the power supplied to the smaller focal spot 3 has reached the highest value, i.e. at point a on the viewing line 2 according to FIG. 1.
The ammeter 20, the solenoid 24 and the glow lamp 29 can be installed in a common housing, not shown in the drawing, which can be designed to be radiation-safe in a known manner in order to avoid spray losses on the high-voltage lines if possible.
The heating current ammeter 20 is suitably heavily attenuated.
