Vacuum discharge vessel.
If metal parts are to be accommodated in the interior of vacuum tubes, it is known that these must be annealed in order to achieve a particularly high, invariable vacuum. This is done either by electron bombardment or by eddy current heating. In many cases it proves to be useful to combine both methods.
With the usual arrangement of a three-electrode tube for radio purposes, the surrounding anode shields the exciting alternating field from the grid further inside. This has the consequence that it is extremely difficult to bring all electrodes to the correct degassing temperature at the same time. Above all, the heating of the grid proves to be very difficult if it only has a single supply line to the outside. Since the filament generally has two, it is possible to short-circuit the heating circuit by bridging the outside and to create a closed current path for the electromotive force generated by the exciting alternating field. In this circuit, the anode does not have a shielding effect.
The idea of the invention is seen in the fact that the electrodes, which are disadvantaged in eddy current degassing, are brought into an electric circuit that encompasses the surrounding electrodes.
With the dimensioning of the current conductor to be formed according to the invention, it is in the hand to bring the relevant electrode to the desired degassing temperature.
A certain electrode can now be placed in such an eddy current circuit in various ways.
Some, for example, embodiments of the invention are shown in the figures. 1-3 schematically show the inventive concept in three different embodiments.
4, 5 and 8 show tubes in somewhat more detail according to the basic representations of FIGS. 1, 3 and 2, FIGS. 6 and 7 special embodiments of the grids according to FIG. 1.
In the figures: 1 denotes the glass bulb of an electron tube, 2 the anode of an electrode system (amplifier system), 3 the filament, 4 the grid, 5 a possible second grid in the same

In FIGS. 3 and 5, there is no actual short-circuit clip, but the lines 13 and 15, which each lead to one end of the grid 4, are connected to one another by a conductive web 17.
Since the grid 4 is combined with the short-circuit clip 11 to form a closed circuit, induction currents can develop in it, which not only bring the short-circuit clip 11, but also the grid 4 in particular to the temperature required for degassing or other processes.
In those cases in which particularly fine-mesh grids are used, however, the resistance of the grids 4 in relation to the resistance of the brackets 11 would be so great that they would melt through
EMI2.1
proves sufficient, in which in particular those parts of the lattice windings that are remote from the web 18 are not heated sufficiently by heat conduction, several such short-circuit webs can be provided, for example another web 19 on the opposite side, as shown in FIG. 7 to see.
In FIG. 8, both supply lines to the grid 4, not only 13 but also 15, are passed through the squeeze foot 10 (as indicated schematically in FIG. 2) and connected externally by a connecting line 20. In the arrangement according to FIG. 8, this connecting line 20 plays the same role as the web 17 of the F; G. 5 and 3 and like the short-circuit hoops in the other figures, or like the short-circuit hoop 12 in FIG. 4: namely, it tracks the one to be used for the induction currents
Circuit.
Such a shorting clip 11, for. B. in accordance with FIG. 11, it is expediently shaped into a circle in order to give the resulting loop the largest possible area. Furthermore, the short-circuit clip is made of such a material and of such strength that the eddy currents that arise bring the grid to the degassing temperature. It will generally be expedient to produce the brackets 11 and 12 or the cross connections 17 and 20 from metal. However, this is not absolutely necessary. In certain cases the use of a semiconductor can prove to be expedient.
The metal strip to be applied for degassing the grating according to FIGS. 2 and 8 is to be dimensioned in such a way that the eddy currents that arise bring the grating and its supply line to the degassing temperature.
Instead of the one crossbar 17 in FIGS. 3 and 5, several can also be arranged, just as the grid can be provided with more than 2 connections.
The invention is not limited to the arrangement of the electrodes shown in the figures and to the number of one or two grids; other electrodes can also be heated in the same way.
