Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
B. in 10-20%ige Schwefelsäure, erfolgen.

Process for finishing artificial silk.
According to an earlier method of the inventor, the rayon is given advantageous properties by treatment with hot basic substances, in particular alkali lyes and alkali sulfide solutions, and the like. in contrast to treatment at room temperature, which is unable to bring about such a favorable change in the rayon. It was found that alkali solutions over 30% are an exception, as the effects of such bases in cold and warm conditions do not show any significant difference. If you z. B. 36 or 40 or 50% sodium hydroxide solution on rayon in the form of threads or fabrics once at 15 and once at 100 C or above, z.
B. 140 C, then you can see that the gloss and the feel do not suffer significantly, that the dry and wet strength remains approximately at the original level and the elasticity increases.
Rayon can be subjected to the process in a stretched or untensioned state.
The exposure time to the strong lye at room temperature can be one minute or longer. The aftertreatment can be carried out either by washing immediately with hot and then cold water or by placing the rayon in an acid bath, e.g. B. in 10-20% sulfuric acid.
"Artificial silk" is understood to mean: artificial threads as such (e.g. artificial silk, staple fibers, artificial wool, artificial hair, artificial straw) in the form of spun threads (threads, threads in strands or cops or in the form of chains or twisted thread or the like) and synthetic threads (e.g. rayon or staple fiber) in the form of woven fabrics.
