Description

Seat air cushions for the sick.

The known ring-shaped rubber air cushions for Eranke consist of two superimposed, suitably cut rubber plates, which are connected to one another at their edges to form two seams running all around. However, air cushions produced in this way have the disadvantage that they soon leak at the seams and consequently require a great deal of repair work. Furthermore, the patient is painfully bothered by the pressure of the hard edges. In addition, these air cushions must be inflated with air before use.

These deficiencies are eliminated by the new rubber air cushion. The invention consists in that the tube of the air cushion is manufactured from the outset as a seamless ring tube, the ends of which are inserted into one another are glued airtight, similar to bicycle tubes, but which are made from straight tubes.

Such an air cushion made of rubber is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 in an exemplary embodiment. FIG. 1 shows a plan view and FIG. 2 shows a section along the line A-B of FIG.

As can be seen from the drawing, the air cushion consists of a ring tube a, which is made without any seam. At the joint. the hose ends overlap b. c a bit and are glued together in the usual way. This results in only a single short outer seam d running radially to the ring cushion, but which has no adverse effect because it is located at a point that the patient can avoid by appropriately adjusting the cushion. The butt joint can also be kept tight due to the size of the overlap of the hose ends, since the inner hose end is pressed against the outer hose end under internal overpressure after the hose has been sucked in.
