Device for making lattice masts visible at airfields u. like. during the dark.
The invention relates to the marking of high-voltage pylons near airports at night with a combination of headlights and reflective bodies.
Since it is well known that high-voltage pylons in the vicinity of airports are dangerous to the approaching and, because of the imminent landing, already low-flying aircraft at night and in fog, efforts are made to make these pylons recognizable by means of lighting. The easiest-to-see identification by means of a signal lantern attached to the top of the mast is not possible, however, since when light disturbances occur due to the incandescent lamp burning out, the operating personnel have to climb up the mast and through between the high-voltage lines to get to the signal lantern.
Climbing the masts is not permitted because of the high-voltage lines and the overhead lines cannot be switched off due to the local disturbance of a signal lantern.
Illuminating the masts with a spotlight from below does not lead to any goal either, since the spotlight only illuminates the inside of the profile iron of the lattice masts, so that the mast can no longer be seen from a short distance.
The invention provides a remedy here. The subject of the invention is a combination of a spotlight on the ground and a reflective body made of sheet metal or other material below the top of the lattice mast, which is shaped (for example, conical) so that it reflects the light emitted from the spotlight upwards to all sides that it is visible to the approaching aircraft (see sketch). The mast is clearly marked and the headlight is accessible at all times.
The drawing shows an embodiment. The lattice mast is designated by 1, in the lower part of which a headlight 2 throwing the light beams upwards is arranged. The light beams emanating from the latter are deflected obliquely upwards by the reflection body 3 arranged under the top of the mast, so that they are visible from afar to the aviator heading for them.
Instead of the conical reflection body shown for example in the drawing, another suitable embodiment can also be used.
The field of application of the device described above is not limited to lattice masts, it can also be used advantageously for all other objects protruding above the surface of the earth, for example tall buildings, towers, factory chimneys or the like.
