So färbt z.

Process for the preparation of azo dyes.
It has been found that azo dyes with remarkable properties are obtained if diazo compounds are allowed to act on such coupling components which contain aryloxy fatty acid residues on nitrogen atoms, or if the aryloxy fatty acid residue is introduced into the corresponding dyes.
The dyes obtained in this way are generally distinguished by fastness to light and boiling, and by good leveling properties. They are suitable for wool etching and also provide valuable varnishes.
Example 1. 93 parts by weight of aniline are diazotized and soda-alkaline with 497 parts by weight of the sodium salt of 1-phenoxyacetylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-3'6-disulfonic acid

coupled. The dye, worked up in the customary manner, applies to wool in very clear pink tones of good lightfastness and washfastness and is distinguished by good leveling power.
Any other diazo compounds can be used instead of the diazotized aniline, e.g. B. that of the 2-amino be. Izoic acid, 2-acetamino-5-aminoanisole, 4-aminoacetanilide, p-xylidine etc., which vary the color tones, but otherwise result in products with the same properties.
The Phenoxyazetvlrest can be replaced by similar groups such as. B. the 2- (or 4-) chlorophenoxy

replace acid.
The dye aniline-azo-1- (4'-chlorophenoxyacetyl) -amino-8-oxynaphthalene-4 # 6-disulphonic acid dyes wool a strong yellow-tinged red.
If the monoazo dye consisting of 1 molecule of diazobenzene and 1 molecule of l-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3 # 6-disulfonic acid (coupled with alkaline) is allowed to act at 30 to 400 C slightly more than 1 molecule of phenoxyacetyl chloride in the presence of acid-binding agents, this also leads to the dye described at the beginning of this example.
Example 2,750 parts by weight of the sodium salt of the monoazo dye, which is formed by acidic coupling of 1 molecule of 4-nitro-1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid with 1 molecule of 2- (N-aminoethylamino) -naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, are dissolved in 50 l of water and 600 parts by weight of calcined soda were added.
Then slowly drip 650 parts by weight of 2-chlorophenoxyacetic acid at 38 to 40 C with thorough stirring.

chloride added. Finally, it is briefly heated to 500 C; Salt out with a little table salt, press and dry.
Of course, you can also first use the 2- (M-2'-chlorophenoxyaxetylaminoethylamino) naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid of the formula:

represent and then couple with the diazo compound from 4-nitro-1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid. The dye obtained in this way is identical to the product prepared by the above process; it dyes wool very clearly with a reddish purple tinge and levels out well. The coloration is extremely fast to light, water and vision.
In this example, as in Example 1, both the diazo and the coupling component and finally also the aryloxyazidyl radical can be varied in the most varied of ways. So z. B. the dye obtained from the diazo compound of 4'6-dinitro-l-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid by coupling with 2 - (# - 4'-Methylphenoxyazetylaminoäthylamino) -napthanlin-6-sulfonic acid on wool a pure reddish blue, the also have the above-mentioned authenticity properties.
A very similar dye is produced from the diazo compound of 4'6-dinitro-1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid and 2 - (# - 5'-chloro-2'-methylphenoxy-ss-propionylaminoethylamino) -naphthalene-7- sulfonic acid.
Example 3. 385 parts by weight of 1-aminobenzene-2'5-disulfonic acid-azo-p-xylidine are diazotized as usual and alkaline with 531 parts by weight of the disodium salt of 1- (4'-chlorophenoxyacetylamino) -8-oxynaphthalene-4'6 -disulfonic acid coupled.
The dye, which is worked up as usual, gives, when processed as a lacquer dye, an outstandingly clear violet lacquer with excellent precipitability and light and water fastness.
Any other substituted or unsubstituted amino or aminoazo compounds of the benzene or naphthalene series can be used as diazo components. So is z. B. the dye
