Betrachtet man z.

Arrangement for acoustic apparatus.
The invention relates to acoustic apparatus and its main aim is to provide an improved visual passage for apparatus used for receiving or transmitting sound.
The aim of the invention is to create a sound chamber or sound hood which enables the sound waves emanating from a membrane to be transmitted more faithfully. than was possible until now.
Sound boxes are already known in which a fixed and a swingable wall are provided and in which the sound opening is located in the fixed wall. It was suggested. to shape the inner surfaces of the two walls in relation to one another in such a way that the surfaces of the successive sections, counted concentrically with the Sehall opening, became essentially the same between the inner surfaces of the two walls. In these devices, the area of the opening between the fixed and movable walls, through which the air is displaced as the oscillating wall moves inward, is approximately constant, but the volume of the displaced air gradually increases towards the center of the movable wall .
It is therefore evident that the speed in such a sound box is not constant everywhere.
According to the present invention, the acoustic apparatus contains a sound box and means for generating sound waves in the same. wherein the chamber is shaped such that the instantaneous oscillation speed of the air is approximately constant over the entire chamber.
In one embodiment of the invention, the sound box has a solid wall with an opening serving as a sound passage leading to sound emitting devices and a membrane which alternately approaches and moves away from the solid wall when it is by suitable means. z. B. the sound pen of a speaking machine or the electromagnet of a telephone receiver is set in motion. The solid wall of the Sehall can is shaped in relation to the membrane in such a way that part of the air is driven approximately parallel to the latter and that the instantaneous oscillation speed of the air is constant over the entire sound can.
With such a shape of the box or chamber, friction losses are reduced to a minimum and a sound reproduction of the highest quality is achieved.
In the drawings, FIG. 1 shows a section through a speech machine sound box according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows another embodiment in a similar design.

shown). A sound pen 64 is connected to the membrane by means of a rod 6, 5 in such a way that it causes the latter to vibrate by means of the pin 64. The surface 61 is curved in such a way that the respective instantaneous oscillation speed of the air in the entire Sehalldose is constant.
As can be seen, when the membrane vibrates, an outer, ring-shaped membrane

to driven, therefore almost parallel to the membrane, so that the ideal cylinder jacket surface (bi or b2) between the inner ring edge and surface 61 is to be considered as a passage cross-section for the air volume driven by the relevant edge ring (i or a2). The most favorable result is achieved when the ratio between the volume of air displaced by an edge ring and the cylindrical passage opening at the inner edge of the respective edge ring is the same as the ratio between the total volume displaced by the membrane 62 to the cross section of the opening 63 .
B. the volume of air that is displaced by the ring al when the center of the membrane? is shifted over a certain distance, the ratio between this volume and the surface area of the cylinder jacket bl (between the inner edge of the ring and the surface 61) is the same as the ratio between the volume of air that is displaced by the ring a2 and the surface area of the cylinder jacket b2 between the edge of the ring Cl2 and the surface 61 ″, which ratio is again the same as the ratio between the total amount of air displaced by the membrane 62 and the cross section of the opening 63.
It is clear that in order for air to vibrate over the whole sound box with constant velocity
EMI2.2
must be proportional. If one considers the edge ring elements a1 and a2, then is the volume of air that is displaced by the element a2 when the center of the membrane oscillates over a certain distance. greater than the volume of air that is displaced by element a1 under the same conditions. The area of the cylindrical opening b2 must therefore be correspondingly larger than the area of the cylindrical opening b1.
The shape of the surface 61 can be determined in the following manner.
Assume that
EMI2.3
<tb>
<tb> y1 <SEP> = <SEP> f <SEP> (x) <SEP> = <SEP> Cross-sectional shape <SEP> of the <SEP> curved <SEP> membrane <SEP>?
<tb> y2 <SEP> = <SEP> (x) <SEP> = <SEP> Cross-sectional shape <SEP> of the <SEP> area <SEP> 67
<tb> b <SEP> = <SEP> radius <SEP> of the <SEP> opening <SEP> 63
<tb> a <SEP> = <SEP> radius <SEP> of the <SEP> membrane <SEP> 62.
<tb>
Assuming that the air compression can be neglected, the volume of the air driven through the funnel attachment opening is equal to the volume of the air displaced by the membrane and the volume of the air driven through an annular passage cross-section in the radial direction and approximately parallel to the membrane is also the same the volume of the air set in motion by the corresponding edge ring.
Because the bulging of the membrane (thought in section) occurs symmetrically around its center.

If different values for x from a to a - b are used in this equation. the shape of the intersection curve or the surface 61 is thus obtained.
In Fig. 2 the membrane is piston-shaped, which is why its oscillation amplitude (d) is constant over the entire surface. For this case, the uniform displacement over the entire membrane surface is assumed with d, equation 7 then becomes

and through integration
EMI4.2
It should be noted here that this equation 10 is in a certain respect more precise than equation 8, in which the influence of the membrane vibration, namely the value / (s), is neglected.
An error arises from the fact that the surfaces b1, b2 are measured parallel to the y-axes, and if the vibrating surface differs significantly from a plane parallel to the a-axis, it is useful to take this into account. Sufficient accuracy will probably be obtained for most purposes if the widths of the openings b, and b2 are measured perpendicular to the surface of the oscillation.
3 and 4 show a sound box according to the invention, in which 11 a perforated. A shell-shaped housing is in which a membrane sits between two flange rings 13 and is held in place by a back plate 14, which is pressed against the rings 13 by means of a nut screwed to the housing 11. The membrane J! 2 is preferably made of light, thin material, e.g. B. thin duralumin and stiffened by appropriate shaping. According to the figure, a number of relatively deep concentric corrugations of different heights are provided.
The inner surface of the back plate 14 has corresponding corrugations with a decreasing inclination, so that a gap remains against the membrane of increasing width towards the center. As described in connection with FIGS. 1 and 2, the correct shape of the two corrugations can be determined so that a constant air velocity can be ensured between them. On the membrane sits an attachment 16 with a hemispherical middle part? y and a number of flexible arms 18 which run radially and are connected in an appropriate manner (for example by means of rivets, spot welding or the like) to the ridge of a corrugation of the membrane.

To accommodate the pin 32, the lower end of the pin arm 27 is provided with a sleeve 30 and a fastening

hole provided for this purpose, fixed in the pen arm. In the same hole, a flexible rod 34 is attached, which is approximately parallel to the arm 22.
Notches are provided in the upper side of the cross bar, with which the bar 33 is held in contact by means of the resilient bar-M. To this end, the ends of the rod 34 are usually lower than the central portion thereof so that the cross rod 33 is pressed against the knife edges when the ends of the rod 34 are bent upwardly to engage with mortise bolts 35,36 that sit in eyes 37 and 38 on the carrier 20. The ends of the resilient rod are conical in shape and the screws 35, 36 have conical cuts. so that the pressure on the knife edges can be easily regulated by turning the screws in one direction or the other.
PATENT CLAIMS: l. Acoustic apparatus with a sound chamber and a wall generating sound vibrations, characterized by such an arrangement and shape of a second wall or such a distance between the two walls that successive air passage cross-sections. which lie between the two walls are proportional to the volume of air driven through each cross-section, so that the flow rate of the air displaced by the membrane is the same in all cross-sections between the rear wall and the membrane.
