Burners for gas firing.
Gas burners are known in which the pressurized gas drives a fan wheel which sucks in the combustion air and pushes it into the combustion chamber. The invention relates to a burner of this type which, in contrast to the known burners, is also suitable for burning high-quality gases, e.g. B. coke oven gases is suitable.
According to the invention, after the gas has been partially expanded when it acts on the blades of a paddle wheel, for the purpose of conveying air, it is passed through a duct to a mixing chamber, to which the conveyed air flows through a separate duct. The gas flow and the air flow are therefore only mixed afterwards and fed to the combustion chamber, completely independently of the conveying device. This makes it possible to avoid the risk of the flame falling back to the wheel and thus destruction of the device even when high-quality gases are burned.
The front part of the gas duct can serve as the mixing space. In order to achieve a certain premixing, openings can be arranged in the intermediate wall at a distance from the paddle wheel between the two channels, through which openings gas can reach the air channel or air can reach the gas channel. The parts of the burner facing the combustion chamber can be provided with a device for water cooling. In particular, an approximately conical hollow body connected to a water pipe is expediently arranged in front of the central part of the wheel, which protects the wheel against the reflective heat and deflects the air flow laterally to the gas flow.
Several embodiments of the burner are shown in the drawing. 1 shows a longitudinal section, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of a horizontal cross section of a piece of the rolled-up channel 1 of FIG. 1 including connecting parts, FIG. 3 shows another embodiment in longitudinal section, FIG. 4 shows a longitudinal section through a burner with water cooling and 5 shows a corresponding cross section.
In the burner according to FIGS. 1 and 2, a wheel 3, which carries fan blades 4 and turbine blades 5, is arranged in front of the annular gas chamber 1 provided with gas supply 2. The pressurized gas flows through the nozzles 10 onto the blades 5 and sets the wheel rotating so that air is sucked in through the space 12 through the fan blades 4 in a manner known per se. According to the invention, gas and air are passed separately to a mixing room behind the wheel. The air flows through the tube 6 and the gas flows through the annular channel 7. In order to bring about a certain slight premixing, the tube 6 can contain openings 8 through which air can enter the gas channel or gas can enter the air channel.
The adjustable cover 9 is used to regulate the air flow.

outer tube 11, so that the end of the outer tube 11 serves as a mixing space.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5, a conical hollow body 13 is arranged at the mouth of the inner tube 6, which deflects the air towards the gas duct and protects the wheel against the radiant heat. Furthermore, an annular hollow body 14 is attached in front of the outer tube. The two interior spaces 15 and 16 of these bodies are connected to one another by a pipe 17.
The cooling water first enters the hollow body 13 through the nozzle 18 and flows from this through the pipe 17 into the outer annular body M, in order then to flow away through the nozzle 19.
