Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Process for the production of electrical toroidal coils.

   Electric toroidal coils with intersecting, successive turns are produced in such a way that a ring of rods inserted at a distance like wheel spokes or arranged parallel to the axis of the mandrel is provided on a round mandrel, around which the successive turns when winding around the mandrel alternately at the front. or the rear side, so that loop-shaped intersections of the windings are formed on the rods.

   This manufacturing method has the disadvantage that the winding of the coil has to be done by hand, the coil does not have sufficient rigidity and the crossings, being formed by hand, are not completely identical.

   The invention forms an electrical toroidal coil which can be produced by machine, therefore is completely uniform and also has great strength and rigidity.

   A prismatic or oval mandrel is used to wind the coil, as illustrated as an example in the drawing in FIGS. 1 and 2. The coil turns b are wound tightly next to one another on the mandrel a and the resulting coil is then pulled off. While the coil is held on to one turn, the turns are turned back in the opposite direction to the direction of movement (i.e. opposite to the direction of the arrow in FIG. 2). If a coil, such as that illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, is to be obtained, for example, with five crossing points c, then each coil turn must be turned back by a fifth of a full turn. If, for example, there were twenty turns, then the coil turns have to be turned back by twenty fifths of turns, thus by four full turns, with the five intersection points being formed.

   As soon as the intersections c of the turns are obtained, bars cl are inserted between the turns on both sides of the intersection points (FIG. 5) and the turns are connected to one another at the intersection points in the usual way, for example by means of threads, whereupon the bars are pulled out again and the coil is completed.

   The number of crossing points of such a coil can be chosen arbitrarily.
