Device for the production of cipher fonts especially intended for telegraphic transport. u
The devices according to Austrian Patent No. 89188 use two commutator-like organs (cipher cylinders) which are temporarily adjustable in relation to one another and which are electrically connected to the machine used to produce the cipher and determine the movements thereof. Each of these organs contains the same number of contact rings and contact pins, as well as internal electrical connections between contact rings and contact pins as the number of characters in the row of characters used or the number of keys on the key board operated in accordance with the given text. The organs are therefore very expensive and require great precision in manufacture.
The purpose of the present invention is to enable the organs to be simplified. so that they can be made cheaper and, above all, smaller, whereby the advantage is achieved that their rotational movements can take place more quickly due to the smaller mass and the smaller number of friction points, and that for their drive. a smaller electromotive force is required.
The invention consists in the fact that the two cipher cylinders together have such a number of contact rings with associated contact pins that the number of contact rings of one cipher cylinder multiplied by the number of contact rings of the other cylinder gives a product that corresponds to the number of characters in the series of characters used Contacts influenced by the keys on the keypad operated according to the given text are divided into groups, the number of which corresponds to the number of contact rings of one cipher cylinder, and which are in conductive connection with the contact rings of the other cipher cylinder that each contact ring of the same has one contact each Group is connected, while the contact pins of the latter cylinder are in contact with the contact pins of a fixed contact carrier,
those on the electromagnetic keys that are also divided into groups and operate the keys of the cipher typewriter
Organs are connected in such a way that each contact pin with one of the electromagnetic
Organs of each group is connected, with all electromagnetic organs of each group through a group relay via the winding of the latter to one of the contact rings of the former
Encryption cylinder can be connected, the contact pins of which are in contact with the contact pins of a stationary contact carrier, which last-mentioned contact pins are each connected to a contact which is actuated by each of the keys in a key group in the text given
