Process for dry distillation of solid fuels.
The invention relates to a process for the dry distillation of solid fuels, in which they become plastic under the action of heat at a certain temperature. As soon as this state is reached, the fuels are taken out of the retort and, as long as they are still plastic, pressed into briquettes. These briquettes are then, while they are still hot, subjected to further heating or distillation in the same or another retort or the like.
Attempts have already been made to exploit the property of the fuels to become plastic at a certain temperature in order to press the fuels into briquettes without binding agents and to subject the briquettes thus obtained to further heating. However, the heating of the fuels took place in fixed retorts heated from the outside. This method had to be unsuccessful because it is not possible in this way to bring the fuels uniformly through the entire mass to the temperature required for plasticization. But this is absolutely necessary in order to be able to briquette the fuels without binding agents.
According to the present process, the fuel is heated until it becomes plastic in rotating drums heated from the inside with the sensible heat of an inert gas. The rotating movement of the drum constantly circulates the fuel, while at the same time the hot gases passed over it - through their direct contact with ever new particles of fuel - heat them up evenly and uniformly throughout the whole mass. The fuels, which are evenly heated in their entire mass in this way until they become plastic, can then be pressed into briquettes without binding agents, as long as they are still plastic.
To carry out the present method, it is advantageous to use two rotating drums which are connected to one another. The first drum, into which the fuel to be treated is introduced, has an opening for the discharge of the distillation gases and an outlet for the heated material in a plastic state. Bitt minose coal or the like is introduced into the first drum and heated by inert gases passed over it until the fuel becomes plastic. It is then removed from the drum, for example through an annular chamber known per se, and brought directly into the briquette press.
The finished briquettes are brought into the second rotary drum by means of a suitable type of elevator, in which the material is further heated or the distillation is completed. The material is removed from this drum through an annular chamber.
The internal heating of the two drums can take place, for example, by the sensible heat from generator gas, water gas or the like, which is passed through the rotating drums, and the like. zw. The heating gas is introduced into the outlet end of the second drum, from which it passes through a connection into the first drum. Instead of two or more drums, it is also possible to use a single long drum, from which the plasticized drum is then passed through an annular chamber
Good removed and to which the good is returned after briquetting.
The volatile constituents of the treated fuel can be withdrawn from each individual drum and subjected to any further treatment, they can also be removed together and z. B. be fed to a condensation system.
