EMI1.1

EMI1.1
The invention relates to a charging device for granular or leaf-shaped fuels, in particular highly combustible residues such as sawdust and wood chips.
In order to achieve the highest possible degree of efficiency, various fuels, for example wood chips and coal dust, are fed to the combustion chamber or a channel opening into it by means of interdependent charging devices. Once the mixing ratio has been set, it is maintained even if the amount of fuel supplied changes.
When burning easily combustible residues, which are fed to the combustion chamber through a downpipe, according to the invention, a housing open on one side is inserted into the downpipe, which contains a paddle wheel acted upon by the falling fuel. This device acts as a safety device, since a flame that leaps up in the downpipe is diverted into the open air by the paddle wheel and ignition of the easily combustible fuel in the feed device is avoided. The paddle wheel can drive a counting device. This enables the fuel consumption to be monitored, which has hitherto been lacking in such systems to which the waste from the workshops is fed by means of an air stream.
The driven paddle wheel can also be used to regulate the supply of pulverized coal in furnaces that work with mixed fuel. A conveying device introducing the pulverized coal into the downpipe is driven, for example, or the drive of the conveying device is regulated by the wheel. The respective amounts of coal dust falling into the combustion chamber are thereby automatically adapted to the falling amount of easily combustible waste.
By burning the wood waste and the coal dust together, the performance of the furnace is considerably increased compared to the conventional waste furnaces.
In the drawing the device is shown. 1 shows a side view of a device serving only as a control and safety device, FIG. 2 shows an associated front view, FIG. 3 shows a side view of a device for jointly burning sawdust and coal dust, FIG. 4 shows an associated front view.
In the device according to FIGS. 1 and 3, a housing c which is open on one side is inserted between the pipe b leading into the combustion chamber and the supply pipe c,

applied to the sawdust and set in rotation. When the flame from the combustion chamber hits the tube b, the paddle wheel cl acts as a safety device, since the flame is deflected into the open and cannot get into the tube a and ignite here. A counter f is connected to the axis e of the paddle wheel, through which the fuel consumption is monitored.
In the device according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the sawdust again pass through the pipe ci and the housing provided with a paddle wheel ('into the downpipe b, while coal dust is introduced from the bunker g through the pipe into the downpipe b, from which

Axis k of this worm is coupled to axis e of the paddle wheel through a belt transmission Nt or the like, so that the worm is driven by the paddle wheel and the amount of coal dust is automatically adapted to the amount of sawdust. Instead of driving the worm directly through the force of the paddle wheel, you can also use an external power source and regulate the drive through the paddle wheel.
