Equipment on machines for feeding cigarettes and other small objects and grouping them in a certain number.
The subject of the invention is an improvement in machines for supplying cigarettes and other small objects and grouping them together in a certain number using a fork which engages with its prongs in the grooves of a grooved roller 1Jllel for removing the cigarettes from the grooves, consisting in that The cigarettes arrive on a horizontal plate adjoining the prongs of the fork, on which they are pushed forward in groups by the drivers attached to an endless conveyor above, and a second conveyor running at right angles to this conveyor, which picks up the groups and converts them into packable ones Bundles transferred from one or more superimposed rows.
The invention is particularly applicable to known type of cigarette feeder, wherein the cigarettes are fed from a collector, a grooved drum, a grooved cylinder or the like, and special reference is therefore made to such an apparatus in the description.
According to the invention, the grooved drum of the feed apparatus is provided with grooves leading around the circumference of the same, in which tines, which are arranged on a horizontal plate serving to carry the cigarettes, grip so that when the grooved drum rotates, the tines open the cigarettes lift out the grooves of the drum and place them on the aforementioned plate. The other end of the plate rests on an apparatus designed to bring the cigarettes in bundles or in layers one on top of the other for transferring them into the appropriate containers.
An endless transport chain is attached above the plate, which carries protruding links, noses, which are there to grasp the cigarettes and to advance them on said plate. This conveyor can be set up and timed so that it conveys any desired number of cigarettes along the plate as soon as they are lifted from the grooved drum, and the lugs are mounted in such spaces that they run faster than the peripheral speed of the drum is .
At the other end of the plate, the cigarettes are removed by a transverse conveyor in a direction which is mainly at right angles to the first-mentioned conveyor.
The conveyed pieces of this conveyor are designed in this way. that they reach through the plate which carries the cigarettes and the latter slip onto the conveyor center], as will be described later.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing

Transport pieces, noses 9 carries. The frame 8 carries a vertical slot Sa in which one of the transport gearwheels 10 is adjustably supported. The transport pieces a move at a greater speed in the direction of arrow 0 like the cigarettes, collect in groups D (Fig. 1 and Fig. 2) and guide them along the plate 6 to the pick-up station.
The number of cigarettes in a group is determined by the speed at which the grooved drum 2 rotates. A guide rail 11 is arranged on the plate 6 above the cigarettes and holds the cigarettes in their position during the transfer.
At right angles to the conveyor 7 runs in the direction of arrow K between guide strips 16 a transverse conveyor which carries conveyor pieces 21. The plate 6 carries an extension 13 which extends to the middle of the transverse conveyor. On the opposite side of the transport means, a plate 14 is attached in continuation of the plate 13. The two plates 13 and 14 with a narrow slot 14a between them form a bridge. The means of transport 7 delivers the groups of cigarettes to the bridge. On the plate 14 is a

At the point at which the conveying means 7 delivers the cigarettes, two quadrants 12 are rotatably mounted, which are arranged in such a way that they move the puller cigarettes further when rotated. which were conveyed by the conveyor pieces 9 and hold them on the bridge 13 and 14 in their position until the transverse conveying means removes them.
In the apparatus described above, the conveyor 7 groups the cigarettes on the plate 6 as they are delivered by the wheel 2, removes them and delivers them to the bridge piece. which is formed by the plate 1, and 14. The transverse conveyor

If it is desired to pack the cigarettes in two rows one on top of the other. then two sets of the apparatus described above are required, each of which delivers onto a common transverse conveyor belt.
In the exemplary embodiment it has been assumed that a row of cigarettes has already been delivered onto the transverse conveyor (FIG. 2). The cigarettes which have been removed from the bridge pieces 13 and 14 will thus fall onto the ones already lying on the conveyor belt running luer so that the latter, after having passed the bridge, carries two rows of cigarettes one above the other.
It can thus be seen that the apparatus can be duplicated and expanded to deliver and carry away any desired number of superimposed rows.
The conveying pieces 21 of the transverse conveying means (Fig. 3) are laterally with after

to reach through between the bridge pieces 13 and 14.
If you want to have a larger number of cigarettes in a group, the gear 19 of the conveyor 7 is equipped with two fingers 20 (Fig. 4). These fingers push a number of cigarettes (usually about half of the desired group) along the plate 6. u. between the Förc1erstück. 9 ahead. This arrangement prevents the cigarettes from jamming on the grooves of the wheel 2 as a result of their quantity. The other group half is advanced by the conveyor piece 9 and quickly reaches the front half group.
If only a number of. Cigarettes in a packet is needed, the bridge plates 13 and 14 and the slot 18 on the Förderstüek. 21 can be omitted and the cigarettes are then conveyed from the plate 6 directly onto the machine belt of the transverse conveying means. The latter is then equipped with conveyor pieces of the appropriate size, so that they are able to deliver the individual rows of cigarettes to the packing machine or the like.
