Man ist dann dazu übergegangen, zwischen Kühlring und Elektrode etwas Spiel zu lassen und die Abdichtung zwischen Rohre zu verlegen, von denen eines fest mit der Elektrode verbunden ist, während ein zweites auf dem   Ofengewölbe   bzw. Kühhing dicht aufsitzt.

   Diese Eimichtung in ihren bekannten   Formen   besitzt den Nachteil, dass der Abstand der Elektrodenklemme, selbst in ihrer tiefsten Lage, vom   Ofengewölbe   noch sehr gross ist, wenn die Klemme ausserhalb der Dichtung liegt und in jeder Lage von aussen   zugänglich   ist. Die Folge hievon ist, dass solche Ölen eine grosse Bauhöhe erfordern, die meist nicht zur Verfügung steht. Ausserdem bedingt dieser verhältnismässig grosse   Minimalabstand   der Elektrodenklemme vom   Ofengewölbe   und damit auch vom Lichtbogen grosse Stromverluste in der Elektrode. 



   Durch die vorliegende Erfindung werden die, e Nachteile behoben, u. zw. dadurch, dass in einem in bekannter Weise an dem Ofengerüst befestigten und gegen den   Kühlring abgedichteten Kühlzylinder   ein die Elektrodenklemme tragender Kolben luftdicht heb- und senkbar angeordnet ist, so dass die Klemme bis unmittelbar auf den Kühlring herabgesenkt werden kann. 



   In der Zeichnung ist ein   Ausführungsbeispiel   der Erfindung schematisch im Längsschnitt dargestellt. 



   Mit 1 ist das   Ofengewölbe   und mit 2 das die Elektrode 3 tragende und an dem Ofen 1 befestigte Gerüst bezeichnet. An diesem Gerüst 2 ist ein im Ausführungsbeispiel durch Wasser gekühlter Zylinder 4 befestigt. in dem ein an der Elektrode 3 angeordneter Kolben 5 luftdicht   heb-und senkbar geführt   ist. Dieser Kolben trägt die   Stromzuführungsklemme   6 und hängt an den Huborganen 7', die   über Rollen   am Zylinder 4 geführt sind.
