EMI1.1

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
In diesem
EMI3.1

EMI1.1
The invention relates to an electrical instantaneous switch which, at the moment when the current intensity in the circuit to be protected reaches a certain value, opens in a very short time and very quickly to interrupt the circuit.
This momentary switch consists essentially of an electromagnet with windings connected in series in the circuit to be protected and with pole pieces that attract two movable armatures, one of which, with a small cross-section, acts on the lever of the momentary switch carrying the movable contact in the sense of contact closure acts, while the other, of greater
Cross section acts on the same lever in the sense of interrupting the contact closure.
One of the features of the invention is that the effect of the armature with a small cross section is predominant for the lowest current values of the circuit to be protected, whereas for a given overcurrent strength the effect of the armature with a larger cross section predominates. This is achieved by a suitable combination of the various working parts and suitable dimensions of the electromagnet, its pole pieces and its two armatures.
The momentary switch according to the invention also has electromagnetic devices which are intended to quickly reduce the effect of the armature of smaller cross-section when the current rises rapidly, such as z. B. is the case when a short circuit is formed.
Some embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the drawing, u. FIG. 1 shows schematically an exemplary embodiment of the invention. From FIGS. 2 and 3, variants of the embodiment according to FIG. 1 can be seen in which electromagnetic devices are present in order to reduce the influence of the armature with a smaller cross section in the event of a sudden rise in current. Fig. 4 shows a further embodiment with a special control mechanism of the lever contact by the two movable armatures.
The torque holder according to FIG. 1 has a fixed contact a and a movable contact b. The latter sits on a lever c which is articulated at an angle ho, 712 in Cl. This

secure the movement of the armature on the lever.
If the momentary switch is in the closed position, then the two parts a, b make contact and the armature g of smaller cross section touches the pole pieces of the electromagnet t, while there is an air gap between these and the armature h of larger cross section.
If the current strength in the circuit to be protected increases, the ampere turns decrease

on the other hand, in the same proportion to how the current strength and the force of attraction exerted by the electromagnet t on the armature t increases in direct proportion to the square of this current strength.
The device is designed in such a way that for a certain value of the current intensity the force of attraction exerted by the armature li with a larger cross-section becomes predominant. At this moment the armature h is attracted by the pole pieces of the electromagnet t and the contact between these pole pieces and the armature g of smaller cross section is canceled. Since the center of gravity of the lever c is on the right hand of the joint Cl, this lever is under the influence of the movement of the armature h with slight sliding of the contacts bund a against each other and while maintaining

comes to rest.
The contacts bund a are then separated by the further adjustment of the lever c, which takes place under the influence of the movement of the armature h, which moves around s as a fulcrum.-As already mentioned above, the lever c is in its extreme position against the stop s.
EMI2.3
relatively fast and the effect of this anchor decreases very quickly, while the effect of the anchor h of larger cross-section, the air gap of which is constantly decreasing, gradually increases. Under these circumstances, the movement of the lever c is greatly accelerated from the moment it is triggered.
The lever c is provided with a hook p which, upon release and at the stroke end of the lever, engages with a resilient pawl q. In addition, the device can be made such that at the end of the stroke of the lever e the center of gravity of the movable system e, g, h, bu, 712 remains to the right of the vertical which goes through the axis of rotation C2.
In order to switch on the torque holder again, it is sufficient to actuate the pawl /. ', Which can be done either directly or with the help of an electromagnet that is controlled remotely. This actuation can trigger the hook p. The lever e then falls back into the closed position due to its weight, while the armature 71 moves away from the pole pieces and the armature g approaches the latter.
EMI2.4
the electromagnet f and the armature g of smaller quartz section are attracted, causing the contact b to slide over the contact a, so that the contact surfaces are constantly kept in good condition.
The embodiment according to FIG. 1 can also be modified without influencing the effect of the torque holder by arranging the connections between the anchors </ -A and the lever c in such a way that the point of attraction of the large armature is below the take-up point.
EMI2.5
As can be seen from Fig. 4 of the drawing, the armature g of smaller cross-section in gl can be rigidly connected to the lever c, while the armature h is attached to an angle lever 712, hua, which is articulated to the lever c at a point which lies below the attachment point g1.
The lever 7z2 sits visibly swingable on a fixed axis c2.
With this arrangement, an increase in the pressure between the contacts a, b is achieved with increasing values of the current in the circuit. This particular feature of the invention is very useful in ensuring that contact is maintained and heating is reduced.
One could also equip the series windings e of the electromagnet with a shunt of greater self-induction and lower resistance in order to trigger the momentary switch for a value of the total current of the circuit in the event of a sudden short circuit that is smaller than in the case of a slowly increasing overload.
This latter condition can also be more effective and cheaper! This can be achieved in that the armature g of smaller cross section is provided with a turn or a coil that is short-circuited, as indicated in FIG. 2. The winding i has of course no influence if the overload increases slowly, but if there is a sudden short circuit.
The change in the magnetic flux es in the armature g of smaller cross-section is delayed by the current induced in the winding i, regardless of whether the magnetic flux in the armature g is close to the saturation limit, as would be the case for one occurring at full load Short circuit or the magnetic flux is still very weak, as would be the case for a short circuit that would be present when the circuit was closed. In such a case, the effect of the armature h of larger cross-section will prevail for a total value of the current in the circuit lower than that required in the event of a sudden short circuit when the winding i were not present.
This effect is even more pronounced in the case of a short circuit at the moment the circuit is closed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the triggering for a lower value of the total current in the case of a sudden short circuit than in the case of a slow increase in the overload is achieved in that a winding i is placed around the armature 9 of smaller cross section, which is shunted to the Series coil e is located, which excites the electromagnet t. This winding consists of wire with a small cross-section, and its resistance is much greater than that of winding e, so that when the load increases slowly, its ampere turns have little influence on the magnetization of the small armature 9.
The direction of winding of the winding j is also selected such that the magnetic flux generated in the small armature 9 is directed opposite to the magnetic flux generated in this armature by the series coil e. Since the self-induction of the shunt j is weaker than that of the coil e, it follows that in the event of a sudden short circuit, the part of the total current diverted into the winding j increases much more quickly than in the case of a slowly increasing overload.
Under these circumstances, the ampere turns of winding j opposed to the magnetic flux generated in small armature 9 dmch coil e will reduce the attraction of the armature so that the attraction of large armature h will prevail much more quickly.
It should also be noted that, if there is a short circuit, the moment the circuit to be protected is closed and therefore no current flows through the winding e, when the short circuit occurs, the magnetic flux that is generated by the winding t , is present at first only in the small anchor g; However, since winding j has a high resistance, the current flowing through it is only a very small fraction of the total current of the circuit. The remainder flows through the coil e, and the magnetic flux generated by this in the armature 9 very quickly reaches a value which equals the magnetic flux generated by the winding j, although it grows more slowly.
As soon as this point is reached, the force of attraction of the large armature h alone is present and will trigger the momentary switch.
The moment of force which causes the torque holder to be triggered can be reinforced by a spring k which influences the lever c, as shown in the drawing in FIG. 3. In this
EMI3.1
The reactivation of the momentary switch, which, according to the embodiment of the invention in Fig. 1, is to be effected by the gravity, can also be brought about by a spring 1, which merely serves to return the lever c to the closed position after the hook p has been released (Fig. 4).
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Electrical torque holder, characterized in that the force required to maintain and break the contact by the action of a series electromagnet (e, t) on two armatures (g and h) of different cross-sections, which are dimensioned and arranged such that the Effect of one or the other to one or.
Switching off the momentary switch is predominant, the device preferably being made such that the switching off of the momentary switch is effected in that the armature of smaller cross section (g), which holds the movable contact lever (c) in the closed position, is caused by the increase in the current intensity in the circuit to be protected is soon magnetically saturated, which is why the force of attraction acting on it remains roughly unchanged, while the force of attraction acting on the armature with a large cross-section (h) increases steadily up to the switch-off value of the current.
