Connection bolts for electric ovens designed as supports for the resistance carriers.
It has already been proposed in electric resistance furnaces that are used to generate high
Temperatures in closed furnace chambers serve to use the connecting bolts for the resistance conductors at the same time as supporting bodies for the insulating rods carrying the heating resistors. So far, however, the parts exposed to heat, such as connection terminals and resistance carriers, have given rise to all kinds of malfunctions. The metallic connection bolts, which mostly consisted of iron, oxidized, so that the
Resistance conductors peeled off from them, and the insulating supports of the latter cracked apart or gradually peeled off. It is already known to manufacture the connection terminals of the resistance carriers of electrical heating devices from nickel.
Certain alloys, which preferably consist of nickel, chromium and iron and are even better than pure nickel, are even better suited for rolling, drawing, casting and not only welded well with iron, but also machined with tool steels. However, these alloys or even pure nickel are very expensive; If one wanted to manufacture all the clamping bolts that penetrate the masonry from the expensive material in masonry ovens, the price of the oven would be greatly increased and the use of such ovens in industry would be made more difficult.
According to the invention, therefore, the connecting bolts serving as lead-through conductors are made from such an alloy only to the extent that they are exposed to the high temperatures
Temperature has a very high resistance to oxidation and is weldable at the same time; outside the range of high temperatures, however, they are welded with an iron bolt.
In the drawing, the wall a of an electric annealing furnace is shown with two connecting bolts, the inner part b of which consists of that alloy and the outer part d of iron. At point c, which is already outside the high temperature zone, the cast part b is welded to the iron screw bolt d. A flange e is cast onto part b and the resistance wire f is welded into its groove. This is wrapped around the quartz tube that rests in the hook or eye of the bolt b, d.
PATENT CLAIMS: 1. Connection bolts for electrical furnaces designed as a support for the resistance carriers, characterized in that the bolt, which also serves as a lead-through conductor through the furnace wall, is made of an alloy that is at least up to this point only if it is exposed to high temperatures
Temperatures has a high resistance to oxidation and at the same time is weldable, and that it is welded to an iron bolt (d) serving for the power supply outside the high temperature range.
