Abstract
Un método para extraer un metal de tierras raras de una mezcla de uno o más metales de tierras raras, donde dicho método comprende poner en contacto una solución ácida del metal de tierras raras con una composición que comprende un líquido iónico, para formar una fase acuosa y una fase no acuosa en la cual el metal de tierras raras ha sido extraído selectivamente, donde el líquido iónico tiene la fórmula [Cat⁺][X⁻], donde [X⁻] representa un anión de fosfinato.
