Abstract
La importancia de éste radica en que se trabaja con las fases naturales de los minerales a-espodumeno y lepidolita mediante las reacciones sólido-sólido a-espodumeno-NaF, a-espodumeno-KF, a-espodumeno-NH₄HF₂, lepidolita-NaF, lepidolita-KF y lepidolita-NH₄HF₂ a temperaturas entre 120 y 900ºC, produciéndose la ruptura completa de la estructura del mineral y generando los productos albita, nefelina, leucita, sílice, fluoruro de aluminio y fluoruro de litio, de alta pureza. Es importante destacar que, en este proceso (sólido-sólido) se minimiza la producción de gases contaminantes y que estos pueden ser tratados eficientemente mediante los sistemas adecuados. Además, este proceso realiza un aprovechamiento completo de los elementos constituyentes del mineral ya que, con la formación albita, nefelina, leucita, sílice y fluoruro de aluminio se aprovechan tanto el Al como el Si, evitando de esta manera, la generación de pasivos ambientales, como lo es en el caso del proceso industrial utilizado actualmente para la obtención de carbonato de litio.
